markets UPS Booking Election wellness Trade performer M&M top auto pick; stack up in capital goods stocks: Amnish Aggarwal
Amnish Aggarwal, Head of Research, Prabhudas Lilladher, says capital goods is perhaps the best performing sector in terms of numbers, because the profit growth of all the capital goods companies and even the order books have been looking quite decent. In the capital goods space, play the entire automation and electrification theme this year. Companies like Siemens, ABB, and to some extent even GE T&D, Schneider stack up there. Among these ABB and Siemens seem to be the largest and very formidable players. The markets may have taken a bit of a breather yesterday after two days of a stupendous rally. The IT sector definitely stood out, hitting record highs. How much further can this rally sustain within IT? Amnish Aggarwal: As far as the IT sector is concerned, there are two things. First of all, with the US elections getting over, now people are getting more comfortable that the IT spending will likely start and they will get more clarity. Secondly, the kind of fear people had earlier that once the Trump administration comes, there would be much more embargo on H-1B visa and I think that, that is not going to be there. So, there are pockets within IT where there will be stress in some European markets and ER&D is not doing well across segments.

UPS Booking Food wellness Trade patient The delicious and global influence of the Jesuits
Society of Jesus, or Jesuits, wanted to use this hot new technology — just over a century old — to spread Christianity in the East. This press was meant for Abyssinia (Ethiopia), but the winds took it round Africa and up to India, where it docked in Goa. It was getting ready to sail again, when it was learned that the Abyssinian emperor no longer wanted it. Francis Xavier, one of the Jesuits’s founders, had established a strong presence in Goa. So, when this news came, the Jesuits quickly set up the press. Printing using carved surfaces may have existed in India before this, but this press produced the first Indian books using movable type. This was in Roman script, but attempts were made to cast types in Indian scripts, first Tamil and then Devanagari. The earliest texts were religious, but in 1563, the press printed a book whose title translates as Colloquies on the Simples and Drugs of India (1563). Written by physician and naturalist Garcia da Orta in the form of dialogues with a fictional friend named Ruano, it describes the useful plants of India. Through the conversations, which include visits to patients, a fascinating picture emerges of the trading world of India and the Arabian Sea.

non-communicable diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, thyroid, Parkinson’s and Alzheimer's remain a growing challenge due to reliance on expensive, reactive care, healthcare experts suggest building a community healthcare system and ‘operating at scale’ in rural and urban areas to help India pave the way to Universal Health Coverage (UHC). Swami Subramaniam, Physician Scientist, and Aparajithan Srivathsan, hospital strategist, spoke to ET on the sidelines of a discussion of their new book in which the duo has proposed seven principles to make UHC a reality in the country. Underlining some of the challenges in the current system, the book highlighted that “Primary healthcare in its current form is in its death throes. For its revival, it should be transformed into a new version called Comprehensive Health Care.” To strengthen the community healthcare system, India needs to think beyond traditional methods and “apply industrial concepts,” Srivathsan said, while adding, “Currently, ASHA workers, though involved in project-based interventions, are not equipped for continuous monitoring, as non-communicable diseases require long-term, consistent care. Therefore, a dedicated cadre of trained health workers is essential, and NGOs are stepping in to fill this gap."
