Indian F1 fans are making a beeline for Singapore and Abu Dhabi
Skyscanner data in June showed that flight bookings for today — September 18 — jumped 189 per cent compared to the previous day, suggesting that Indian fans were eager to soak up the pre-race atmosphere in Singapore ahead of this weekend’s Singapore Grand Prix (September 22). Anirban Chowdhury, detailing his luxury stay at the JW Marriott Masai Mara in Kenya, has gone viral on social media platform X (formerly Twitter). Chowdhury, who shared his experience of staying at one of Kenya’s most expensive resorts with his wife, received an overwhelming response from users, many of whom were curious about the cost of such a lavish vacation. However, one comment, in particular, caught Chowdhury’s attention, prompting him to address misconceptions surrounding his trip in a post titled, «It's time for some myth-busting.» The comment that sparked his response read: «Only multimillionaires like you can afford such vacations.» The implication that only the wealthy could afford such an extravagant holiday didn’t sit well with Chowdhury, who decided to break down the actual costs and methods he used to make the trip affordable. In response to the claim that he must be a multimillionaire to afford such a trip, Chowdhury clarified that he is a salaried employee who pays taxes like everyone else. He emphasized that he travels frequently for work, which helps him earn even more points to redeem for luxury stays and flights.

Rahul Chadha’s strategy for next phase of market
«Because there is growth slowdown and I have been in India for the last couple of days and there are visible signs of slowdown, whether it is real estate in northern India or consumption part of the economy,» says Rahul Chadha, Shikhara Investment. What is it that you are making of the market right now? I mean, all the valuation concerns aside, markets and not just us, globally, they do not want to stop. Rahul Chadha: I think what markets are looking is what Fed would do tomorrow. So, September 18th is when Fed comes for a meet and clearly, we are seeing globally economic data being soft but the hope is that policymakers, particularly here, the central banks come quickly, act quickly, and cut rates quickly, so which is where 50 bps cut from Fed would be reassuring and we have had some statements from the Fed members saying that Fed should go to neutral rates very quickly.

Market continues to gain strength; no major signs of a correction: Devang Mehta
«Markets are going from strength to strength and that is where I always take out this quote from someone's book which says that more money has been lost in anticipating a correction or waiting for a correction than in correction itself,» says Devang Mehta, Spark Private Wealth. What is your take on the market right now? Every day we are making a fresh record high. Today was a similar instance. But within this kind of construct, is it better to place your bets on largecaps or do you think midcap and smallcap have more steam to go? Devang Mehta: The view on the markets is honestly, we have been seeing that in the last two-three months that there has been small corrections which are getting bought in.

New book captures ‘intimate look’ at Terry Fox
Terry Fox had run the length of a marathon a day during his journey across Canada, she was shocked.Like most Canadians, Adhiya had known about the icon’s 1980 mission to raise funds for cancer research through a 4,700-mile run from Newfoundland to British Columbia, but not much about Fox’s childhood, the day-to-day grind of his run and his deep connection to his supporters. The editor and writer’s new book, Hope by Terry Fox, published this month by ECW Press and Burman Books, explores who Fox was beyond what he called his Marathon of Hope through interviews, journal excerpts, letters and photos.“As Canadians, we adore him for very good reason, and he is our iconic hero,” Adhiya said. “But I think this book allows you to really understand the depth of who he was as a human being.”“This is hope, as Terry Fox would teach you.”Fox, of Port Coquitlam, B.C., was 18 years old when he was diagnosed with bone cancer and had to have his right leg amputated.

Stocks to buy: Invest in companies that have reduced debt; 5 stocks with up to 29% upside potential
Bank of Baroda. Though the ICR was comfortable despite moderation, the higher base effect is likely to keep profit growth under pressure. This is distressing as profits are the main driver of the debt servicing ratio. ICR measures a company’s debt servicing capability and indicates whether the company is making enough profits to meet its interest liabilities. Moreover, the sectors that contributed significantly to top line or revenue growth in 2023-24 saw a slowdown in the June quarter. These sectors included automobiles, consumer services, airlines, industrials and cement. “The demand slowdown is a sign of worry,” states the Nuvama report.
