Zee Entertainment Enterprises managing director and chief executive Punit Goenka said he has not discussed his reappointment with any shareholder, even as his five-year term is set to end in December. «So, at the end of the day, it is the shareholders who will decide whether I am the right person or not, or whether somebody else needs to lead this company,» Goenka told analysts during the company's Q4 earnings call on Friday. Domestic institutional investors own a 35.56% stake in the company as of March 2024. Some of the top investors include ICICI Prudential Mutual Fund and HDFC Mutual Fund.

Attero plans to invest over Rs 8,000 crore in 5 years to ramp up e-waste, battery recycling capacity
Electronic waste and battery recycling company Attero plans to invest around Rs 8,300 crore in the next five years to ramp up its capacity, the company's CEO and Co-Founder Nitin Gupta said. At present, the company has the capacity to recycle up to 1,44,000 tonnes of electronic waste (e-waste) and 15,000 tonnes of lithium-ion battery annually. «In the next five years, we will obviously be investing roughly around USD 1 billion overall, including all forms of capital — debt, equity and sort of other non-diluted forms of capital,» Gupta told PTI. He said that the company is growing 100 per cent year-on-year and gradually increasing capacity.

State Bank of India chief–and Mohandas Pai–previously CFO at Infosys– will not be renewing their contract to be part of Byju's board advisory council, sources familiar with the matter said. This adds to the series of troubles the edtech firm finds itself in since last year. Pai and Kumar’s contract ends on June 30 and they are not renewing the contract, people briefed on the matter said. Both Pai and Kumar joined the advisory council following Byju's investors–Peak XV Partners, Prosus and Chan Zuckerberg Initiative–leaving the board of the company last year.

54 candidates in fray for 3 Lok Sabha seats in Jharkhand
Jharkhand Lok Sabha constituencies — Chatra, Koderma and Hazaribag — and by-poll in Gandey assembly seat will take place on Monday amid tight security, officials said. Over 58.22 lakh electors including 28.29 lakh female voters are eligible to exercise their franchise in the three Lok Sabha constituencies in the state, while 3.15 lakh voters are eligible to exercise their franchise in Gandey by-poll, an election official said. As many as 54 candidates are in the fray for polls in three Lok Sabha seats, while 11 candidates including Kalpana Soren, wife of jailed former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, are contesting in the Gandey assembly by-election, the official said. Jharkhand Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) K Ravi Kumar told PTI, «In a bid to conduct free and fair polls, all preparations have almost been completed including the security arrangements.

Mohammad Hamid Ansari, former prime minister Dr Manmohan Singh, former deputy prime minister LK Advani and former Union minister Dr Murli Manohar Joshi have cast their votes using the home voting facility, the Delhi poll body said. The office of the chief electoral officer (CEO) of Delhi on Thursday kicked off the home voting facility for elderly voters and persons with disabilities (PwDs) and it will go on till May 24. According to the data shared by the office, 1409 voters cast their ballots from the comfort of their homes across all seven parliamentary constituencies in Delhi on Friday, which was the second day of the facility being started. The West Delhi constituency reported the highest number of home votes, with 348 voters participating. Among them, 299 were elderly individuals.

Dalmia Bharat begins production at new unit in Tamil Nadu plant
Cement maker Dalmia Bharat Ltd has commenced production at its new mill in Ariyalur manufacturing unit in Tamil Nadu, according to a regulatory filing by the company. With the commencement of commercial production of this 1 MTPA cement unit, the total cement manufacturing capacity of the company stands at 45.6 MTPA, it said. «With an investment of Rs 204 crore, this strategic brownfield expansion is aimed at strengthening its market presence in the South and meeting the growing demand for cement in the region,» the company said in a statement. This is in line with the company's long-term growth strategy aimed at increasing its total installed capacity to 110 -130 MT by 2031, it said.

Signalling clarity on payment approach: Vi may give government more equity to clear its bills
Vodafone Idea (Vi) CEO Akshaya said the telco is looking at further conversions of government dues into equity as well as internal accruals to address payout obligations toward spectrum and adjusted gross revenue (AGR). The moratorium on these payments ends in September 2025. The statement came during Vi’s FY24 fourth-quarter earnings call Friday. Moondra was responding to a query on Vi’s payment strategy on clearing government liabilities of more than Rs 2 lakh crore relating to spectrum payments and AGR dues. Vi has to pay Rs 29,000 crore in March 2026 and Rs 43,000 crore in March 2027.
