Dollar steady as week of key central bank decisions kicks off
Federal Reserve, the Bank of England and the Bank of Japan. Currency moves were largely muted on Monday as investors were hesitant to make big directional wagers ahead of the week's slew of central bank interest rate decisions. «The plethora of event risk and central bank meetings coming up is keeping a lid on volatility, and with traders really not wanting to chase moves or take on significant risk before the FOMC, BoE, BoJ, etc.,» Michael Brown, market analyst at Trader X, said. The U.S. dollar index — which measures the currency against six major counterparts — was about flat at 105.25, not far from the six-month high of 105.43 touched on Thursday.

A five-for was in my destiny today: Mohammed Siraj
Mohammed Siraj asked during his dream spell of 6 for 21 was mostly due to the simple things that he was able to do perfectly on what turned out to be a Super Sunday for the Indian cricket team. Perhaps, he was destined to have a day like this, said the Hyderabadi. «Jitna naseeb mein hota hai wahi milta, aaj mera naseeb tha (You get what's in our destiny, today it was my destiny),» Siraj summed up the mood while talking to broadcasters in the mid-innings break. He was particularly referring to the Thiruvananthpuram third ODI in Sri Lanka's tour of India where he got four wickets early but could not manage a five-for as Sri Lanka folded for 73 while chasing a stiff 391. «Last time, I did the same against Sri Lanka at Trivandrum.

Kejriwal promises implementation of PESA for tribals if AAP voted to power in Chhattisgarh
Kejriwal on Saturday said his party would implement the Panchayat (Extension to Scheduled Areas) Act in tribal-dominated areas of Chhattisgarh if voted to power in the upcoming assembly elections. Addressing a rally in the Bastar district headquarter Jagdalpur, around 300 km from here, Kejriwal slammed the BJP, saying celebrations were underway at the saffron party's headquarters in Delhi when the sad news of the martyrdom of Army officers in Anantnag trickled in. He also hit out at the BJP over the "India vs Bharat" debate and the 'one nation and one election' agenda. «We guarantee that if AAP is elected to power in Chhattisgarh, PESA will be implemented within a month of the formation of the government in the interest of tribals and to protect their 'jal, jungle, and zameen' (land).

After Chinese betting app scam, Gujarat cops now chasing Malaysian 'Big Boss' in Rs 33 crore scam
Chinese betting app scam, Gujarat police are now chasing a Malaysian individual known as 'Big Boss' in another scam that is said to be worth Rs 33 crore. As per a report in The Times of India, cops are hunting for the Malaysian 'Big Boss, whose real name is Tan Chee Keat, or Kenny, along with four compatriots. The scam surfaced after it was found that a substantial sum amounting to Rs 33 crore had traversed from numerous bank accounts in two districts of Saurashtra to Kuala Lumpur. Cops are currently investigating to ascertain the number of people who were enticed by the accused with promises of substantial returns on bets placed through these fraudulent apps. On August 12, the Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) received information that an NRI (non-resident Indian) residing in Malaysia, Rohit Vadher, along with a Malaysian national, Chua Ming Ho, alias Robin, and a resident of Sutrapada in Gir Somnath, Mahek Chhag, were engaged in cheating individuals through betting and gambling apps while also allegedly establishing counterfeit bank accounts. Utilising informers and technical surveillance, the ATS successfully identified Chagg and eight individuals from Veraval and Rajkot who were collaborating with Vadher and the five Malaysians in their illicit activities.
