Climate Finance: The Solution to All Climate-driven Ills?
Statistics reveal that the world’s top 1 per cent of emitters produce over 1,000 times more CO2 than the bottom 1 per cent. That number gets starker, as studies reveal, with the richest 0.1 per cent of the world’s population emitting 10 times more than the entire top 10 per cent combined. These figures make one thing explicitly clear: if these top emitters globally continue to maintain such carbon levels, there is no way we can decarbonize fast enough.

Businesses should be profitable from point of view of financial returns as well as impact on society: Jamshyd Godrej, Godrej & Boyce
Jamshyd Godrej, Chairman & MD, Godrej & Boyce, says: “Our vision is to grow 10-12% a year. That is our long term average growth. That has been that way and will stay that way, we hope. We see that all businesses should be profitable from the point of view of not just financial returns, but also from their impact on society. And I think that as we go along, we have to keep on being innovative. You cannot have a thriving company without having innovative products and innovative people. That is at the core of it. But at the same time, you have to be sustainable also. So this confluence of innovation and sustainability is really what is crucial.” First off, you are most passionate on the topic of the environment. There are certain initiatives that Godrej & Boyce has started. I would like you to talk to us a little bit about your environmental initiatives. You said that ESG as a word is clubbed together and misused in a lot of ways. A little bit on that front as well. Environmental issues have been very close to the family for generations now.

15 years of 26/11: Remembering gruesome Mumbai terror attacks
terrorist attacks that shook India's financial capital, Mumbai, on November 26, 2008. Commonly referred to as 26/11, these coordinated assaults by a group of 10 terrorists did mayhem on the streets of Mumbai and sent shockwaves through the nation and the world. Terrorists from the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terror group had entered the city of Mumbai on the night of November 26, 2008. Over the course of four days, they killed 166 people and injured 300. The targets were carefully chosen after being surveyed for maximum impact, viz., the Taj and Oberoi Hotels, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, the Jewish centre at Nariman House, and the Leopold Cafe, since these places were frequented by Europeans, Indians and Jews. The nine LeT terrorists were killed while Mohammad Ajmal Amir Qasab, the lone surviving Pakistterrorist from the attack at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus railway station, was arrested.
