MCD makes geo-tagging of properties mandatory to avail property tax exemption
Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) on Tuesday said it has made geo-tagging of all kinds of properties mandatory to avail of a 10% property tax exemption. The civic agency said if any taxpayer fails to geo-tag their properties by January 31, they will not be able to avail of the 10% rebate on the lump sum advance payment of tax in the next financial year by June 30.

Cyclone Michaung to make landfall in few hours, around 9000 people evacuated in coastal Andhra
Andhra Pradesh within the next few hours. The police said that many families including pregnant women, children, and senior citizens were rescued from different areas who were stuck due to wreak havoc of Cyclone Michaung. As per the IMD, during landfall, Michaung is expected to bring gales with speeds of 90 — 100 km per hour, gusting up to 110 kmph. The weather system over the west-central Bay of Bengal, running along and off the south Andhra Pradesh coast, is likely to move nearly northwards, parallel and close to the south Andhra Pradesh coast, Met Department said. Meanwhile, Chennai airport, one of the busiest airports in the country resumed operations on Tuesday morning after being shut for hours due to adverse weather conditions. «Traffic has been closed on Manjambakkam to Vadaperumbakkam Road due to the release of water from the Puzhal Lake,» police said. At least eight people have lost their lives while multiple roads and subways are closed due to waterlogging in the wake of the cyclone. Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin on Tuesday morning inspected the Cyclone affected areas in the state.

India and the USA on Monday held a comprehensive review of India-US Initiative on Critical and Emerging Technologies (iCET) at the level of Deputy National Security Advisers and agreed to broaden the scope of iCET to biotechnology, critical minerals and rare earths processing technologies, digital connectivity and digital public infrastructure, and advanced materials. Jonathan Finer, Principal Deputy National Security Adviser of the United States on Monday held consultations with Vikram Misri, Deputy National Security Adviser. This is a follow up to the visit of US NSA Jake Sullivan to India in June 2023 and the visit of NSA Ajit Doval to US in January 2023. The two Deputy NSAs have agreed to broaden the scope of iCET to biotechnology, critical minerals and rare earths processing technologies, digital connectivity and digital public infrastructure, and advanced materials, officials said, adding, they also affirmed the importance of easing regulations to facilitate high-tech collaborations, and transfer of technology. During the consultations, the two Deputy NSAs reviewed key bilateral issues and exchanged views on regional and global developments, officials said.

Indicted by US Justice Department: No records of Nikhil Gupta in narco registry
Nikhil Gupta, who was named by the United States in an indictment before a US court, alleging a plot to assassinate a US citizen involving Indian officials. The registry, however, threw up five other persons with the same name who are under trial in different states, but not in Gujarat, said officials. The national database on arrested narcotics offenders was launched in 2022 and contains names of those arrested by police across states in the country and by central agencies, Earlier, the National Crime Records Bureau recorded the cases registered under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act but information about individuals stayed with the state police.
