Over 5 lakh beneficiary cards made in four days of Ayushman Bhav campaign: Government
Ayushman Bharat beneficiary cards have been made in just four days since the launch of the Ayushman Bhav campaign, Union Health Secretary Sudhansh Pant said on Thursday. He further said that more than 20 lakh ABHA IDs have been generated while footfall of more than 20 lakh have been registered at the Ayushman Bharat-Health and Wellness Centres and Community Health Centres for availing free treatment and screening services, he said. The Ayushman Bhav campaign, launched on September 13 by President Droupadi Murmu, is a comprehensive nationwide healthcare initiative that aims to provide saturation coverage of healthcare services in every village and town in the country. It is being implemented during the 'Seva Pakhwada' (fortnight of service) which began on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's birthday on September 17 and will continue till October 2. The three components of the Ayushman Bhav campaign — Ayushman — Apke Dwar 3.0, Ayushman Melas at Health and Wellness Centres (HWC) and Community Health Clinics (CHC), and Ayushman Sabhas in every village and panchayat — will substantially expedite the access of healthcare services at grassroots level thereby ensuring building of a healthy nation. Through the Ayushman Apke Dwar 3.0 initiative, the government aims to provide Ayushman cards to remaining eligible beneficiaries enrolled under the PM-JAY scheme, ensuring that more individuals have access to essential health services. Ayushman Melas at HWCs and CHCs will facilitate the creation of ABHA IDs (Health IDs) and issuance of Ayushman Bharat cards.

IRDAI to roll out nationwide cashless medical-insurance settlement soon
IRDAI has mandated the Committee on Common Empanelment Process of Hospitals and 100% Cashless to submit a report on implementing fully cashless medical-insurance settlement in hospitals across the country. Currently, cashless settlement is available in 49% of the hospitals, numbering around 25,000. Around 400 million medical-insurance policyholders are likely to benefit once the plan is implemented. In the wake of recent clashes between insurance companies and hospitals, IRDAI has been exploring ways to resolve such incidents. According to an order issued by the General Insurance Council (GIC) secretary general Inderjeet Singh dated August 1, the committee will provide weekly updates, with an aim to introduce nationwide cashless settlement by the end of October.

‘India hopeful about climate financing at UN conference’

No reason for Canadian pension funds to back out from India: Official
diplomatic row between India and Canada is unlikely to have any immediate effect on investment relations between the two countries, a top government official said on Thursday. The official said that the Canadian pension funds are getting higher returns in India, and they have investments in the Indian infrastructure sector. «They are here because they are making higher returns here… So I don't see any reason for them to back out because of the current situation, which hopefully we will sort out,» the official said. Those funds can not get such returns anywhere else, the official said, adding «I don't see any impact on Canadian investments into India». «Don't see any immediate impact on Indian investments into Canada also,» the official noted. The comments come in the backdrop of an intense diplomatic row that erupted following Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's allegations of a «potential» involvement of Indian agents in the killing of a Khalistani separatist in June.

Adani Group bags Rs 13,888 crore worth contracts for smart meter installation in Maharashtra
Adani Group on Thursday bagged two contracts worth Rs 13,888 crore from a state-owned discom to install smart meters. A total of six tenders were awarded by the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) to install smart meters, of which two have been bagged by the Adani Group, according to an official communique from the discom seen by PTI. The diversified group, which has a sizeable presence in the power sector and had recently won a Rs 1,000 crore contract to install smart meters in the area serviced by BEST Undertaking in Mumbai, will act as an advanced metering infrastructure service provider for smart prepaid metering in MSEDCL, it said. The two zones awarded to Adani include Bhandup, Kalyan and Konkan having 63.44 lakh meters, and Baramati and Pune having 52.45 lakh meters, it said. Letter of Awards have been issued to the successful firms, as per the communique. Officials from Adani Group were not immediately available for comment. The group's transmission arm Adani Energy Solutions, which was earlier known as Adani Transmission, is active in the smart meter segment. According to sources in the know, with these wins, Adani Group will emerge as the largest smart meter supplier in the country, commanding a 30 per cent share of the market.

World Bank’s IFC, Sunteck form platform for green urban housing, to invest Rs 750 cr
India, the World Bank member IFC and realty developer Sunteck Realty are partnering to create a joint platform to promote the development of 12,000 housing units with a total investment of up to Rs 750 crore. These houses will be developed across four to six green housing projects within the country’s commercial capital Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR). Of the total investment into this joint platform, IFC's proposed investment will be up to Rs 330 crore with the remainder to be brought in by Sunteck Realty. «This investment aligns with our strategy to create more inclusive and equitable cities by backing affordable and eco-friendly housing through partnerships with established companies like Sunteck Realty,” said Wendy Werner, IFC Country Head, India. According to him, it also supports the government of India's 'Housing for All' initiative, delivering essential societal benefits including shelter, safety, job opportunities, wealth generation, and enhanced credit access. »We are pleased to collaborate with IFC in our shared goal of addressing the housing shortage in India. Our wide range of offerings provide high quality amenities and enhanced lifestyle for all the segments of the population,” said Kamal Khetan, CMD, Sunteck Realty.
