Tejashwi Yadav defends INDIA bloc's boycott of 'pro-BJP' news anchors
Tejashwi Yadav has defended the opposition INDIA bloc's decision to boycott alleged pro-BJP news anchors. The RJD leader was talking to reporters here on Friday, upon his return from Delhi, where the decision to this effect was taken during a coordination committee meeting of the INDIA coalition. He also admonished his party colleague and cabinet minister Chandra Shekhar for his controversial remarks on Ramcharitmanas. «The sub-committee concerned took the decision not to take part in shows organised by those who are rabidly pro-BJP and try to give things an incendiary turn,» said Yadav, upon being asked about the opposition coalition's move, which has irked the ruling party at the Centre and also drawn flak from some journalists' bodies. About the utterances of Chandra Shekhar, who holds the education portfolio, the deputy CM said, «In my view, he should avoid raising unnecessary controversy and concentrate more on the functioning of his department.» The RJD leader, however, added, «I also have a complaint against too much of media glare around such negative things.

SBI to raise ₹10kcr via infra bonds
State Bank of India is likely to raise up to ₹10,000 crore next week by issuing 15-year infrastructure bonds as the country's largest mass lender looks to garner long-term capital. «The bonds would have AAA rating from ICRA and India Ratings and the issuance will likely happen on September 22. The expectation on the coupon is around 7.45-7.50% which would represent a tight spread over comparable benchmarks,» a person aware of the development said. The person said SBI is unlikely to carry out more infrastructure debt issues this financial year after the upcoming bond sale. On July 31, the country's largest bank sold 15-year infrastructure bonds worth ₹10,000 crore at a coupon of 7.54%, representing an aggressive spread over the comparable government security curve of such a tenure as investor demand was strong.

The project is estimated at £1.25 billion, with the rest of the capital expected to be put up by Tata Steel. Rohan Bopanna gets ready for Davis Cup farewell, India starts overwhelming favourite against Morocco
India when it takes on an unostentatious Morocco in the home tie, which will be more of a celebration of Rohan Bopanna's Davis Cup career, which will come to a halt after 21 years on Sunday. The lack of singles players who could challenge the big boys of the ATP circuit, coupled with defeats in winnable matches, has hurt the Indian Davis Cup team badly in the last few years in this team tournament, but relegation to World Group II was a new low the Indian team hit in February. It was for the first time since the new format was launched in 2019 that the Indians dropped to this level. Much has changed since India last played in the Davis Cup tie in March, when it lost 2-3 to Denmark. Indian tennis has hardly had any memorable moments this season until Bopanna reached the US Open final last week. It's not just the lack of on-court results in singles; off-court, the country also felt the disappointment of losing its only ATP 250 event.Yuki Bhambri, one of the finest players India has seen, has stopped playing the singles format.
