Jio writes to Trai, seeks flexible use of satellite spectrum
Reliance Jio has shared with Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) a recent decision taken by New Zealand government allowing use of 24-30 GHz spectrum, part of Ka band, for satellite and mobile services to highlight its point. Jio has stressed that the suggestion for flexible use of spectrum is based upon the latest changes in technology and standards which have allowed the creation of integrated and converged networks. As per Trai’s consultation paper on assignment of spectrum for space-based communication services, Ku band ranges from 10 GHz to 15 GHz while Ka band ranges from 17 GHz to 31 GHz. As per Jio, the New Zealand government has agreed to allocate 24.25-27.5 GHz primarily for mobile use, with an option to include some satellite services in some areas. Bands in the 27.5-28.35 GHz range are to be shared for mobile and satellite services while 28.35-29.5 GHz to be allocated for satellite services with the option to include some mobile use. “The above decisions clearly show that the New Zealand government has recognised the need for flexible use of spectrum in the wake of imminent technological convergence in telecommunication networks under integrated and converged satellite and terrestrial networks,” Jio said in a letter dated September 5 to Trai chairman PD Vaghela. As per Trai, Ku band can be used for both fixed satellite services and mobile satellite services.

Trade pacts with G20 member countries can help India boost exports: CII EXIM panel chairman
trade pacts with certain G20 countries and diversifying exports to regions like Brazil and Mexico could help India boost outbound shipments and manufacturing in the years to come, Chairman, CII national committee on EXIM, Sanjay Budhia, said on Wednesday. He said that tapping into opportunities in G20 countries is crucial for India's economic growth and global influence. India should diversify its export markets within the G20 countries, Budhia, who is also Managing Director of Patton Group, said. He added that while traditional partners like the United States and the European Union remain important, exploring emerging markets within the G20, such as Brazil, South Africa, Indonesia, and Mexico, can open up new avenues for Indian goods and services. «Negotiating and implementing trade agreements and bilateral deals with G20 member countries may be helpful to tap potential between India and G20 countries.

Supreme Court dismisses PIL seeking steps to stop religious conversions
Supreme Court on Wednesday refused to entertain a petition seeking a direction to the Centre to take steps to curb fraudulent religious conversions in the country. «Why should the court enter into this thicket? How can the court issue a writ of mandamus to the government,» said a bench comprising Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud and justices J B Pardiwala and Manoj Misra. The lawyer, appearing for Karnataka-based PIL petitioner Jerome Anto, said Hindus and minors are being targeted and they are being converted «fraudulently». «If there is a live challenge and someone is prosecuted then we can entertain,» the bench said while dismissing the PIL. «What kind of PIL is this? PIL has become a tool and everyone is coming up with petitions like these,» it said. On being argued where the petitioner should go with this kind of grievance, the bench said, «We are not in advisory jurisdiction.

Mid caps, small caps & MFs driving this market into PE expansion: Ajay Srivastava
«I do not think people expecting them to grow very much but the PE expansion is now getting into a zone which hopefully the festive season will give one positive surprise to us but if it does not you could have a lot of grief sitting all there,» says Ajay Srivastava, Dimensions Corporate.Just wanted to understand what do you make of the strength in the mid and the small caps and the disconnect with what the large cap universe has been doing? Do you think it is getting a little toppish when it comes to individual segments at least within the mid and small cap universe and is it time to tread with caution?I keep saying this again and again that this India is a market of flows, I think that is where we are at this point of time that the midcap, small cap, mutual funds are driving this market into PE expansion. I do not think people expecting them to grow very much but the PE expansion is now getting into a zone which hopefully the festive season will give one positive surprise to us but if it does not you could have a lot of grief sitting all there.
