"Dak Sewa is Jan Sewa"; Scindia says Dept of Posts' to soon go digital
Jyotiraditya Scindia on Saturday said the Department of Posts is going through a business process restructuring exercise to transition to a digital platform as he asserted that Dak Sewa is Jan Sewa (postal service is public service). Speaking on the occasion of the 50th Foundation Day of Indian Post & Telecommunication Accounts and Finance Service, the minister said the shift is particularly relevant in the context of e-commerce growth, positioning the department to lead in this emerging business avenue. «Our department is going to go digital. Our department is going through a business process restructuring exercise, where we will transform ourselves in the days to come into a logistics corporation, where we must become the leaders in the world, with a new business avenue that is growing in terms of e-commerce,» he said. He noted that the Department of Posts today is the largest distribution network across the world, with 1,64,000 post offices.

A look at the whirlwind events that led to the impeachment of South Korea's president
South Korea's parliament on Saturday voted to impeach embattled President Yoon Suk Yeol over his short-lived martial law decree this month, a shocking stunt that paralyzed the country's politics, halted foreign policy and spooked financial markets. His suspension from power comes almost eight years after the impeachment of Seoul's last conservative leader, Park Geun-hye, formally removed from office by the Constitutional Court in March 2017. Yoon, a former public prosecutor, was part of the investigation team that examined Park's charges of bribery, abuse of power and other crimes that the court concluded warranted her removal from office.

South Korea's Yoon: From rising star to impeachment
Yoon Suk Yeol rose from public prosecutor to the nation's highest office in just a few years, but as president he staggered from scandal to scandal before plunging the country into crisis by declaring martial law. The lurch back to South Korea's dark days of military rule only lasted a few hours, and after a night of protests and high drama last week Yoon was forced into a U-turn. But polls show a huge majority of citizens want him out and lawmakers voted Saturday to impeach him. He is now the third South Korean president to be impeached by parliamentary vote, and if upheld by the Constitutional Court would be the second to be removed from office.

Frequent poll code imposition disrupts development, normal public life: Simultaneous polls bill
simultaneous elections for various reasons as polls have become expensive and time-consuming, according to the proposed bill being brought to implement the ambitious 'one nation, one election' plan. According to the constitution amendment bill listed for introduction in the Lok Sabha on Monday, the imposition of a Model Code of Conduct in several parts of the country which are poll-bound puts on hold the entire development programmes and causes disruption of normal public life. Frequent poll code imposition also impacts the functioning of services and curtails the involvement of manpower from their core activities for deployment for prolonged periods for election duties, the 'Constitution (129th) Amendment Bill, 2024' underlined. The bill proposes to insert a new article 82A — simultaneous elections to the House of the People (Lok Sabha) and all legislative assemblies and to amend Article 83 (Duration of Houses of Parliament), Article 172 (Duration of State Legislatures) and Article 327 (power of Parliament to make provision with respect to elections to Legislatures).
