NIA) on Sunday conducted raids across four states in the Pakistan-backed Gazwa-e-Hind module case. The raids were conducted at the premises of suspects in Dewas district of Madhya Pradesh, Gir Somnath district of Gujarat, Azamgarh district of Uttar Pradesh and Kozhikode district of Kerala. The raids revealed links of the suspects, whose premises were searched earlier on the day with Pakistan-based handlers. «These suspects were in contact with the handlers, and were involved in propagating the radical, anti-India idea of Gazwa-e-Hind,» said the agency. The raids led to the seizure of incriminating documents and digital devices like mobile phones, and SIM cards. Several documents were also seized during the NIA crackdown, as part of the ongoing investigations in the case, commonly referred to as the Gazwa-e-Hind case, Patna (Bihar).

The Union government has issued a notification regarding the approval of the proposal to merge the Nauradehi Wildlife Sanctuary—located in central Madhya Pradesh covering parts of Sagar, Damoh, Narsinghpur, and Raisen districts—with the Rani Durgavati Wildlife Sanctuary in the Damoh district of the state, the report said citing a forest department official.

Union health ministry has asked the states and Union Territories (UTs) to closely monitor trends of influenza-like illness (ILI) and severe acute respiratory illness (SARI), following reports indicating a surge in respiratory illness among children in northern China. It also reviewed the preparedness against respiratory illnesses across the country. Union health secretary Sudhansh Pant advised the states and UTs to “immediately” review public health and hospital preparedness measures, including availability of hospital beds, drugs and vaccines for influenza, medical oxygen, antibiotics, personal protective equipment, testing kits and reagents, functionality of oxygen plants and ventilators, and infection control practices in health facilities. The health ministry said it is “closely monitoring” the situation and that there is “no need for any alarm”. States and Union Territories have also been advised to implement ‘Operational guidelines for revised surveillance strategy in the context of Covid-19’ shared earlier this year which provides for integrated surveillance of respiratory pathogens, it said. They have also been asked to ensure that the spread of ILI and SARI be closely monitored by the district and state surveillance units of Integrated Disease Surveillance Project (IDSP), particularly among children and adolescents.

China's health ministry on Sunday urged local authorities to increase the number of fever clinics as the country grapples with a surge in respiratory illnesses in its first full winter since easing COVID-19 restrictions. National Health Commission spokesperson Mi Feng said on Sunday the surge in acute respiratory illnesses was linked to the simultaneous circulation of several kinds of pathogens, most prominently influenza. «Efforts should be made to increase the number of relevant clinics and treatment areas, appropriately extend service hours and strengthen guarantees of drug supplies,» Mi told a news conference. «It is necessary to do a good job in epidemic prevention and control in key crowded places such as schools, childcare institutions and nursing homes, and to reduce the flow of people and visits.» Cases among children are appearing especially high in northern areas like Beijing and Liaoning province, where hospitals are warning of long waits.

Damoh district in Madhya Pradesh is set to become home to the country's largest tiger reserve, said a forest department official. The central government has issued a notification approving the proposal to merge the Noradehi Sanctuary with the RDurgavati Sanctuary of the Damoh district, creating a vast tiger reserve spanning 2,300 square kilometres. The reserve will be centered around the Jabera area of Damoh district and is expected to boost tourism and development in the region, said officials. According to Damoh's Forest Divisional Officer, MS Uikey, the new tiger reserve will provide a safe haven for the area's tiger population, which currently stands at 16. The merger is also expected to attract more tigers to the area, further enhancing its conservation value. Uike expressed his optimism about the impact of the tiger reserve on Damoh's development, stating, «This is a big gift for Damoh.
