Delhi government will approach the Supreme Court on Thursday over Haryana not releasing the national capital's share of water, which has led to a crisis situation, Water Minister Atishi said. Addressing a press conference here, Atishi said Delhi is staring at an "emergency situation" and announced a slew of emergency measures to tackle the crisis. «We will approach the Supreme Court on Thursday itself over Haryana not releasing the share of Delhi's water,» she added. Engine Lease Finance files fresh insolvency plea against SpiceJet
Engine Lease Finance BV has filed a petition in the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT), seeking insolvency proceedings against SpiceJet over arrears of more than $12 million against aircraft engines it had leased to the budget airline. Engine Lease Finance is the latest of engine lessors that have approached courts accusing SpiceJet of defaulting on payments and seeking repossession of engines. The counsel cited email exchanges between the companies as proof of default. He also told the tribunal that the default amount did not fall under the Section 10 A of the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code. Under the section, initiation of insolvency proceedings had been suspended for defaults during the pandemic period.

Excise case: Delhi court takes cognisance of ED charge sheet against Kavitha, others
Delhi court on Wednesday took cognisance of a supplementary charge sheet filed by the ED against BRS leader K Kavitha and others in a money laundering case related to the alleged excise scam. Special Judge for ED and CBI cases Kaveri Baweja said the prosecution complaint, the Enforcement Directorate's version of a charge sheet, contained «sufficient» prima facie evidence against the accused. The judge issued production warrant for Kavitha, a Telangana MLC and daughter of former state chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao, for June 3. She is in judicial custody in the case and currently lodged in Tihar central jail. The excise case pertains to alleged corruption and money laundering in the formulation and execution of the Delhi government's now-scrapped excise policy for 2021-22.

Engine Lease Finance moves insolvency plea against SpiceJet
Engine Lease Finance BV, an aircraft engine lessor of SpiceJet, has moved an insolvency plea before the NCLT against the debt-ridden air carrier over non-payment of over USD 12 million (around Rs 100 crore). Engine Lease Finance (ELF) has leased eight engines to SpiceJet. Along with interest and rental, ELF has claimed an amount of around USD 16 million. The matter was listed before a Delhi-based bench of the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) on Wednesday, which heard it briefly. Counsel appearing for SpiceJet sought time to respond to the petition filed by Engine Lease Finance. On this, the NCLT bench comprising members Mahendra Khandelwal and Sanjeev Ranjan directed SpiceJet to file its response to the petition.
