CEO awards President Actor Justice stars Courts Padma Awards: Vyjayanthimala, Chiranjeevi, late justice M Fathima Beevi among others to receive India's highest civilian honour
President Droupadi Murmu on Thursday conferred Padma awards during a Civil Investiture Ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhawan in Delhi. Yesteryear actor Vyjayanthimala Bali, Telugu star Konidela Chiranjeevi, the first woman judge of the Supreme Court late M Fathima Beevi, and "Bombay Samachar" owner Hormusji N Cama were honored with Padma awards by the President. BJP leader O Rajagopal, Ladakh's spiritual leader Togdan Rinpochey, Tamil actor late «Captain» Vijayakant (posthumously), and group editor and CEO of Gujarati newspaper «Janmabhoomi» Kundan Vyas were also conferred Padma awards at a civil investiture ceremony held at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Enforcement Directorate is likely to file a chargesheet against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday, the day when the top court is expected to announce its verdict in the bail case, as per media reports. Earlier, the Supreme Court pushed forward the verdict on Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal's interim bail plea and said that it may announce the order on Thursday or next week, without specifying the date. The SC raised concerns regarding the Enforcement Directorate's (ED) prolonged investigation into the excise policy-linked money laundering case involving Kejriwal. The SC bench comprising Justices Sanjiv Khanna and Dipankar Datta told Arvind Kejriwal's counsel Abhishek Singhvi that if it were to give interim bail to the Aam Aadmi Party's national convenor, it doesn’t want him to be performing official duties as the CM as it could lead to a conflict somewhere.

In this type of special court (Adalat), you can present pending payment of Delhi Traffic Police challans/notices and either get it settled at a lower amount or dismiss it. As per a social media post by Delhi Traffic Police, National Lok Adalat will take up cases including the settlement of compoundable traffic challans (applicable for commercial vehicles as well) that have been pending on the Delhi Traffic Police portal till January 31, 2024. According to IPS Hargobinder Singh Dhaliwal, special commissioner of police Zone 2, Delhi Traffic Police, «The initiative of Lok Adalat has proven instrumental in providing a more accessible avenue for individuals to address their pending traffic challans and associated legal matters. By offering a streamlined and informal process, it not only eases the burden on the traditional legal system but also expedites the resolution process for those involved in traffic violations.»
