President Droupadi Murmu on Thursday conferred Padma awards during a Civil Investiture Ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhawan in Delhi.
Yesteryear actor Vyjayanthimala Bali, Telugu star Konidela Chiranjeevi, the first woman judge of the Supreme Court late M Fathima Beevi, and "Bombay Samachar" owner Hormusji N Cama were honored with Padma awards by the President.
BJP leader O Rajagopal, Ladakh's spiritual leader Togdan Rinpochey, Tamil actor late «Captain» Vijayakant (posthumously), and group editor and CEO of Gujarati newspaper «Janmabhoomi» Kundan Vyas were also conferred Padma awards at a civil investiture ceremony held at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Vyjayanthimala Bali and Chiranjeevi received Padma Vibhushan, while Beevi, Cama, Rajagopal, Vijayakant, Rinpochey, and Vyas were honored with Padma Bhushan.
Family members accepted the awards on behalf of Beevi, Vijayakant, and Rinpochey.
Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Union Home Minister Amit Shah were among the dignitaries present at the ceremony.
The Padma awards, considered among the highest civilian honors in the country, are bestowed in three categories — Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Shri.
They recognize outstanding contributions in various fields such as art, social work, public affairs, science and engineering, trade and industry, medicine, literature and education, sports, and civil service.
