Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) on Friday conducted survey of the controversial Bhojshala/Kamal Maula Mosque complex situated in the tribal-dominated Dhar district of Madhya Pradesh and made preparations for using carbon-dating equipment, officials said here. A 15-member ASI team along with senior local police and district administration officials readied the site for scientific assessments following a Madhya Pradesh High Court directive to conduct a 'scientific survey' within six weeks. The high court, on March 11, directed the ASI to carry out a 'scientific survey' within six weeks of the Bhojshala complex, a medieval-era monument that Hindus believe is a temple of Goddess Vagdevi (Saraswati), while the Muslim community calls it Kamal Maula Mosque. During the first day of the survey, members of the Muslim community gathered to offer Friday prayers amidst tight security arrangements, the officials said.

Supreme Court on Friday took note of Swiss financial services firm Credit Suisse submission’s that SpiceJet has cleared its outstanding dues and is no longer in default as on date. A Bench led by Justice Hima Kohli while posting the matter for further hearing in July noted the submissions made by senior counsel Liz Mattews, appearing for Credit Suisse, that “matter should be taken up after three months to ensure that they (Spicejet) don’t default as they have been doing in the past,” The court was hearing a contempt petition filed by Credit Suisse against Singh over the non-payment of dues despite a court-approved commercial settlement arrived at between the Swiss firm and the low-cost airline in 2021. The dispute arises from SpiceJet's alleged failure to honour invoices raised by Credit Suisse.

While senior advocate Gopal Sankaranarayanan said there is no bar in law on a person continuing as chief minister once arrested, senior advocate Vikas Singh said though legally there is no bar, administratively it will be next to impossible. Kejriwal has not tender his resignation from the post of the chief minister. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) said he will continue as the chief minister of Delhi and if need be, he will run the government from jail.

Denying the allegations against Yadav, Rathi assured that once the formalities are completed, Yadav will be released from jail. The arrest of Elvish Yadav occurred on Sunday by the Noida Police in connection with a case related to the Wildlife Protection Act. Subsequently, he was presented before a local court. Yadav was among six individuals named in a police report filed on November 3 last year at Sector 49 police station. While the other five were arrested earlier, they are currently out on bail. The case pertains to violations of wildlife protection laws and allegations of criminal conspiracy. The investigation was later transferred from Sector 49 to Sector 20 police station, where Yadav was arrested by the Sector 20 police team. Yadav has denied any involvement in the case.
