Sergio Brown accused of killing mother taken into police custody on first-degree murder charge
Sergio Brown, a former NFL player who was reported missing last month following the tragic death of his mother due to blunt force trauma, is now in police custody in Southern California, officials were quoted as saying by USA Today. Brown was apprehended upon re-entering the United States from Mexico through San Diego, as confirmed by the Maywood Police Department, the same agency that had reported him as a missing person earlier. With the assistance of various local and federal law enforcement authorities, the San Diego Police Department took Brown into custody after a first-degree murder warrant had been issued in connection with the death of his 73-year-old mother, Myrtle Brown, USA Today reported. Last month, Police in suburban Chicago came across Instagram videos that appeared to show missing former NFL player Sergio Brown discussing the recent death of his mother, who died following an assault. In the video posted to an Instagram page that appears to belong to Sergio Brown, a man resembling Brown calls reports about the death of his 73-year-old mother, Myrtle Brown, “fake news.” “Fake news, fake news, fake news. It has to be the FBI,” the man says in the rambling, expletive-filled video, in which he says he thought his mother “was on vacation” in the Mexican state of Sinaloa. In another video posted to his Instagram story Tuesday, the man references the film «Finding Nemo», repeating the movie’s famous line, «Just keep swimming, just keep swimming,» the Chicago Tribune reported. Myrtle Brown's body was found in September near a creek behind her home in Maywood, about 12 miles (19 kilometers) west of Chicago.

Hamas' Mohammed Deif, Israel attack mastermind, reveals why he launched 9/11 like assault
Hamas last week, Mohammed Deif, the secretive mastermind behind the assault, has provided insights into the motives behind what Israel has likened to its '9/11 moment.' This revelation comes amid escalating tensions between Israel and Hamas, with the recent assault marking the most substantial breach in Israeli defenses since the 1973 Arab-Israeli conflict. Deif's audio message, broadcast as Hamas launched thousands of rockets from the Gaza strip on Saturday, underscores the message of retaliation for Israeli raids at Jerusalem's Al Aqsa mosque. This mosque, a long-standing flashpoint for violence over matters of sovereignty and religion in Jerusalem, was stormed by Israeli forces in May 2021, sparking widespread anger in the Arab and Muslim world.

How a secretive Hamas commander masterminded the attack on Israel
Israel calls last week's devastating attack by Hamas its 9/11 moment. The secretive mastermind behind the assault, Palestinian militant Mohammed Deif, calls it Al Aqsa Flood. The phrase Israel's most wanted man used in an audio tape broadcast as Hamas fired thousands of rockets out of the Gaza strip on Saturday signalled the attack was payback for Israeli raids at Jerusalem's Al Aqsa mosque. It was in May 2021, after a raid on Islam's third holiest site that enraged the Arab and Muslim world, when Deif began planning the operation that has killed more than 1,200 people in Israel, according to a source close to Hamas in Gaza. «It was triggered by scenes and footage of Israel storming Al Aqsa mosque during Ramadan, beating worshippers, attacking them, dragging elderly and young men out of the mosque,» the source said.

Israel recaptures Gaza border areas on day four; death toll passes 3,000
Gaza border areas from Hamas militants as the war's death toll passed 3,000 on Tuesday, the fourth day of fierce fighting since the Islamists launched a surprise attack. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has warned Israel's military campaign following Saturday's onslaught was only the start of a sustained war to destroy Hamas and «change the Middle East». Fears of a regional conflagration have surged amid expectations of a looming Israeli ground incursion into Gaza, the crowded enclave from where Hamas launched its land, air and sea attack on the Jewish Sabbath. The death toll in Israel has surged above 900 from the worst attack in the country's 75-year history, while Gaza officials have reported 765 people killed so far. Hamas gunmen killed more than 100 people in the kibbutz of Beeri alone, said Moti Bukjin, a volunteer with the charity Zaka that recovers bodies in accordance with Jewish law.
