Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) shares fell 1.5% in early Monday trade as investors were digesting updates from China.

Indian Railways is set to operate nearly 300 special trains, making a total of 4,480 trips, in order to cater to the increased demand during the festive season, including Durga Puja, Diwali, and Chhath. The announcement of 283 special trains was made by Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. According to the details shared by the minister, South Central Railway will run 58 trains, making a total of 404 trips.

New Delhi: The government has identified eight more pollution hotspots in addition to the existing 13 in the national capital, and special teams will be deployed there to check pollution sources, Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai said on Monday. After a meeting with 28 departments to ensure the effective implementation of pollution mitigation measures in the capital, Rai said the government has also decided to use dust suppressant powder to prevent dust pollution in the city.

When it comes to GST, it’s important to keep in mind that the money owed by the Company, which is due to the Government, may already be collected from the final customer. As a result, there should not be any exemption from punishment for any gross neglect or misfeasance in relation to the affairs of the company.

Cyclone Tej updates: The deep depression formed over the Bay of Bengal may intensify into a cyclone by Monday evening, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has said in a bulletin. Foxconn, a major supplier of Apple's iPhones, dropped as much as 3% on Monday after a report that the company is the subject of tax audits and land use probes in China. China's state-backed the Global Times said some of Foxconn's key subsidiaries in China were the subject of tax audits and that China's natural resources department had also conducted on-site investigations on the land use of Foxconn enterprises in Henan and Hubei provinces and elsewhere. Foxconn said in a statement on Sunday that legal compliance was a «fundamental principle» of its operations everywhere, and that it would «actively cooperate with the relevant units on the related work and operations». It declined further comment on Monday. Foxconn makes most iPhones at the Zhengzhou plant in Henan province where it employs about 200,000 people, though it has other smaller production sites in India and southern China. The Global Times did not give details of the tax or land use probes, which have not been officially announced by any Chinese government department. The report comes less than three months before Taiwan votes in presidential and parliamentary elections.

Karnataka has received as many as 15 proposals so far for the empanelment of agencies for a fact-checking unit, state IT minister Priyank Kharge told ET in an interview. The last date for submitting proposals has been extended to November 1, he said. The state had called expressions of interest to set up an Information Disorder Tackling Unit on October 5. The vetting of proposals will start soon.

NEW DELHI : Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) based in the Netherlands face tax concerns following a Supreme Court verdict last week pertaining to the interpretation of Double Taxation Avoidance Agreements (DTAAs). In its verdict, the Supreme Court clarified that the most favoured nation (MFN) clause in a tax treaty is not automatically triggered and has to be notified separately by the central government. It is common for FPIs based in the Netherlands to believe that their dividends will be subject to a 5% withholding tax in India.
