Indian Railways is set to operate nearly 300 special trains, making a total of 4,480 trips, in order to cater to the increased demand during the festive season, including Durga Puja, Diwali, and Chhath. The announcement of 283 special trains was made by Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.
According to the details shared by the minister, South Central Railway will run 58 trains, making a total of 404 trips.
Western Railway will operate 36 trains, with a maximum of 1,267 trips. Additionally, North Western Railway will run 24 special trains, making 1,208 trips.
In a bid to ease the rush from Mumbai and Delhi, the railways is also planning to introduce non-AC Vande trains ahead of Chhath.
These special trains will help accommodate the surge in passenger traffic during the festive period, ensuring a smoother travel experience for the passengers.
Southern Railway has announced the operation of special trains on the Chennai-Nagercoil and Chennai-Karaikudi routes via Trichy to accommodate the increase in passenger traffic during the puja holidays.
The Nagercoil-Chennai superfast festival special fare special train will depart from Nagercoil at 7.35 pm on October 24 (Tuesday) and arrive in Chennai at 8.45 am the next day. The return journey will see the Chennai-Nagercoil superfast festival special fare special train leave Chennai at 12.30 pm on October 25 (Wednesday) and reach Nagercoil at 11.55 pm on the same day.
The train will consist of one AC two-tier coach, five AC three-tier coaches, 11 sleeper class coaches, two general second-class coaches, and two luggage-cum-brake vans.
