Barauni-Guwahati Pipeline will provide gas in Guwahati by the end of the year, and Assam will be linked with the National Gas Grid. Gas conclave a day-long brainstorming workshop on the prospects and challenges of the usage of natural gas, was organized by the Department of Industries, Commerce & Public Enterprises, Government of Assam on Tuesday in Guwahati. Minister, Industries, Commerce Bimal Bora while commending the pioneering role of Assam in the petroleum and natural gas sector in the country, noted how the Hydro-carbon Vision 2030 for North-East India of the Central Government has opened up several vistas of economic development through natural gas; and further noted how Assam has so much reserves of natural gas that it can fuel its economy based on this clean and green fuel. In this regard, he stressed on evolving synergy among the different stakeholders of the entire value chain of natural gas. NEW DELHI : The government has extended the Remission of Duties and Taxes on Exported Products (RoDTEP) scheme till 30 June 2024, an official statement said on Tuesday, benefitting exporters amid global headwinds. “The RoDTEP support which was notified till 30th September 2023 is now being extended till 30th June 2024 at the same rates to the existing export items," the commerce ministry said in a statement.

Delhi: The government on Tuesday set rabi foodgrains production target at 161.2 million tonnes (mt). The national target for total food grains production for the 2023-24 (July-June) crop year is 332 mt. As per the government’s third crop estimate, India’s foodgrain production in 2022-23 is pegged at 330.5 mt.

(Reuters) — Athletic-wear retailer Dick's Sporting Goods (NYSE:DKS) said on Tuesday it would recruit 8,600 workers across the United States for the holiday shopping season, less than its proposed hiring for the same period a year earlier.

IIT-Guwahati on Tuesday said they have developed a fabric that can separate oil from water, which will help in tackling marine pollution caused by oil spills. The silica nanoparticles-coated cotton fabric has been developed using rice husk, an agricultural waste, as the primary source material, said Vaibhav Goud, a professor in the IIT-Guwahati's Department of Chemical Engineering. The aim is to convert an agricultural waste into a sustainable value-added product to mitigate marine oil pollution, he said.
