Digi Yatra Foundation on Friday said that the personal data of 3.3 million Indian users of Digi Yatra (DY) app is absolutely safe, reiterating that DY does not store Personally Identifiable Information (PII).

Delhi Airport briefly experienced a power outage on Monday, impacting the boarding and check-in facilities as well as the functioning of Digi Yatra. The power was restored, and no flights were affected, the airport said in a statement. However, the power outage affected baggage collection and entry at the e-gates.

Digi Yatra Foundation on Wednesday said the Digi Yatra application has always been under its full control amid controversy with respect to a former vendor that had offered billing account and management services for the application. According to reports, there are concerns about data shared by passengers on Digi Yatra and that former vendor Dataevolve Solutions had come under investigation. When asked whether Dataevolve is still associated with Digi Yatra, the foundation replied in the negative. «There is no association of Digi Yatra with Dataevolve.»

New Delhi: The government is planning to roll out a faster biometrics-based process for international passengers to speed up immigration checks as part of the strategy to develop India's airports as global transit hubs. The New Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru airports will introduce automated immigration clearances, allowing international entries and departures without physical passport verification, people aware of the details told ET.

Digi Yatra is purely voluntary for air passengers and personnel at airports have been directed to collect data for the application only with the consent of passengers, according to Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia. There have been complaints that biometric data for Digi Yatra were being gathered from passengers without their consent and the issue was flagged to the minister by Rajya Sabha member Saket Gokhale. Digi Yatra, which provides for contactless, seamless movement of passengers at various check points at airports based on Facial Recognition Technology (FRT), is currently available at a minimum 13 airports for domestic passengers.

RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das, while speaking on the decision of the bi-monthly Monetary Policy Committee meeting today, said that a Public Tech Platform for Frictionless Credit delivery is being developed by the Reserve Bank Innovation Hub (RBIH) for end-to-end digital lending processes. The RBIH is a wholly owned subsidiary of the RBI set up to promote and facilitate an environment that accelerates innovation across the financial sector.
