Anant Raj to invest Rs 10,000 crore for 300 MW data centre
real estate developer Anant Raj Limited plans to develop 300 MW data centre buildings with a total investment of ₹10,000 crore in the next few years, said its managing director Amit Sarin. Having previously constructed three IT buildings in Manesar, Rai and Panchkula in Haryana, the company is presently in the process of transforming these structures into data centres, he told ET. «The three projects possess the potential to accommodate 300 MW of data, and we benefit from having pre-existing structures that simply need to be adapted to meet the specifications essential for a data centre. The initial phase of Manesar Park is ready with a 21 MW capacity, and the complete project is designed for a total capacity of 50 MW,» said Sarin. Industry experts have projected a demand for about 20 million square feet of data centre space across key cities in the next four-five years. Anant Raj holds 1.2 million square feet in Manesar on a 10-acre site, 2.1 million square feet on a 25-acre plot in Rai (with the possibility of doubling capacity) and 500,000 square feet on a 10-acre land in Panchkula (with expansion options). «In Manesar, we have the potential to reach 50 MW, while Rai can accommodate a 200 MW data centre.

Punjab & Sind Bank looks to raise Rs 250 crore via QIP in Q3
QIP) in the next quarter," Punjab & Sind Bank managing director Swarup Kumar Saha told PTI. It will help achieve the twin objective of capital raising and dilution of the government's holding in the bank, he said. Government of India holds a 98.25 per cent stake in the bank which was listed on the stock exchanges in 2010. He said that the government's nod is also in place for the capital raising. The bank had written to the Centre seeking its approval for capital raising in May this year. As part of a strategy to increase touch points and brand visibility, Saha said the bank is aiming for 2,000 branches and as many ATMs in the country in the next three years. The addition of branches would help mobilise low-cost deposits and also increase penetration of loan products, he said. «We are trying to build operational efficiency more so that I can reduce my cost and increase my fee income.

PM says cyber crimes can have social, geopolitical implications; need global cooperation to deal it
Modi has said while seeking global cooperation to deal with cybercrimes. In an exclusive interview with PTI, he said the World Bank has estimated that cyber attacks could have caused losses of around USD 5.2 trillion to the world during 2019-2023, but their impact goes beyond just financial aspects into activities that are deeply worrying.Read the full interview here He said these can have social and geopolitical implications. «Cyber terrorism, online radicalisation, use of networked platforms to move funds from money laundering to drugs and terrorism — are just the tip of the iceberg,» he said. Modi said cyberspace has introduced an entirely new dimension to the battle against illicit financial activities and terrorism. «Terrorist organisations are using technology for radicalisation, moving money from money laundering and drugs into terror funding, and capitalising on emerging digital avenues such as the dark net, metaverse, and cryptocurrency platforms to fulfil their nefarious aims,» he said. Stressing the need for taking the cyber threats very seriously, the prime minister said one angle of their adverse impact is the financial losses they cause. Further, he said, cyber attacks can also have implications for the social fabric of nations. Modi said the spread of 'deep fakes' can cause chaos and loss of credibility of news sources.

PM Modi's full interview: India PM unfolds views on inflation, G-20 meetings, climate change and more
Prime Minister Narendra Modi by Editor-in-Chief Vijay Joshi and senior editors late last week at his Lok Kalyan Marg residenceQ: The G-20 Presidency has given India the opportunity to promote its vision for a sustainable, inclusive and equitable world, and to raise its profile as a leader in the Indo-Pacific region. With just days left for the summit, please share your thoughts on achievements of Indian Presidency.A: To answer this question, we need to set the context on two aspects. The first is on the formation of the G20. Second is the context in which India got the G20 Presidency. The genesis of the G20 was at the end of the last century. The major economies of the world got together with a vision of a collective and coordinated response to economic crises. Its salience grew even more during the global economic crisis in the first decade of the 21st century. But when the pandemic struck, the world understood that in addition to the economic challenges, there were also other important and immediate challenges impacting humanity.

Tech adoption carves a new hiring path in auto sector
According to data from Ad Astra Consultants, the Indian electric vehicle (EV) market is expected to reach $113.99 billion by 2029, from $1.45 billion in 2021, growing at a CAGR of 66.52% during the period. Nirupama VG, MD, Ad Astra Consultants, says the rapid shift has also brought to light skill gaps in the industry. A report commissioned by the Automotive Skills Development Council (ASDC) says as the industry innovates on autonomous driving, EVs and connected-car technologies, there is a need for skilling and reskilling to keep pace with the technological transformation. Nirupama VG also shares that while the government is proactively supporting the EV shift by offering consumer incentives like tax breaks and subsidies, the National Electric Mobility Mission Plan 2020 further emphasises this support with plans for building EV infrastructure and promoting manufacturing. Indian manufacturers are, therefore, leveraging local expertise, resources and market understanding to create products and solutions.
