US Polls: As Trump struggles against Harris, his allies and aides try to energize him
US Presidential Elections 2024 is turning out to be a major political battle between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump, even though the latter was in the race much longer the reigning VP was. Trump's aura in this current US elections campaign has been much more dominant and brutal than the Democrats, something that has been the reason of Biden pulling out of the poll race midway.

Cong should tell why its govts have not fulfilled OPS promise in states: BJP on 'U-turn' jibe on UPS
BJP on Sunday hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the decision to bring a unified pension scheme for central government employees and hit out at the Congress, asking why it has not implemented its promise of bringing back the old pension scheme in Himachal Pradesh and other states where it is in power. Addressing a press conference at BJP headquarters here, senior party leader Ravi Shankar Prasad slammed Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge for his U-turn jibe at the Centre and said Prime Minister Modi is «sensitive» to public issues and takes decisions in public interest after careful consideration. The Modi government does not take «ad-hoc decisions», the former Union minister said and asked Kharge to tell the nation why his party has taken a «U-turn» on its poll promise of implementing the old pension scheme in Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka and Telangana after coming to power in these states. «The Congress has made the old pension scheme a massive issue in Indian politics over the last two years. So much so that the Congress made even Priyanka Gandhi Vadra announce during elections in Himachal Pradesh that the party will implement the old pension scheme in the state if voted to power,» Prasad said

Should you start worrying about Trump trade vs Kamala trade? Arnab Das answers
Arnab Das, Global Macro Strategist, Invesco, says we have to look further ahead and think about the American election. Many in the market are discussing the Trump trade versus the Kamala trade. The Trump trade further out might be lower growth, somewhat higher inflation than otherwise and the Kamala trade might be kind of a more reflationary trade, higher growth and somewhat higher inflation. Either way, the Fed would be more likely to be constrained Does a Fed rate cut in September inevitable or are there still question marks around it? Arnab Das: A September cut is extremely likely. Maybe, never say never, so not quite inevitable. But I think we have been moving in the direction of September cut for some time. Maybe the market has gotten ahead of itself in terms of the extent of the easing cycle. It had gotten ahead of itself a few times, I would say, in terms of when the easing would start, how deep the cuts would be, how fast and thick they would come.

Unified Pension Scheme: The political motive behind Modi govt's new big move
BJP) is targeting political gains from government employees by offering a Unified Pension Scheme (UPS) that includes a 50% salary as pension and inflation adjustment, countering the Congress's promise of a return to the unfunded Old Pension Scheme (OPS), a ToI report said on August 25. This move comes ahead of key assembly polls in Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, Maharashtra, and Jharkhand. Recently, some government employees were influenced by Congress's OPS promise, particularly in Himachal Pradesh, said the report (by Akhilesh Singh). Government cadres have traditionally been a solid vote bank for the BJP, especially in Delhi, where elections are imminent in February. However, the demand for restoring OPS was leveraged by Congress in recent state elections to challenge the BJP. This tactic appeared effective in Himachal Pradesh, a state where government employees have significant influence. Despite this, BJP managed to win both Lok Sabha and assembly polls in Madhya Pradesh without much damage from the OPS issue. The dissatisfaction among some government employees was noticeable during the Lok Sabha polls, although it was less pronounced than in state elections. Observers suggested that this discontent could be influential in upcoming election battles.

GenAI levels the playing field: Mercedes Soria of robotics security company Knightscope
artificial intelligence can enable Indians — even those who do not have a technical background — to solve the country’s most pressing problems, according to Mercedes Soria, executive vice-president and chief intelligence officer at US robotics security company Knightscope. “Now, all we have to worry about is, are we solving the right problem,” said Soria, who was on an India visit to share her expertise on machine learning and AI. Soria is a speaker for the United States Department of State on technology and women in STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics). “In the future, it’s not going to be so much that you have to be technical to have a startup and solve a problem. It’s going to be more of, do you identify the right problem to solve, and then the technology like Gen AI will help you,” she said. Problems can be solved even by those who can’t write a single line of code, she added. This is a ‘massive opportunity’ for India with its large population and unique local issues. Young people in India, including high schoolers, are very familiar with and using tools like ChatGPT, whereas in the US this is seen more among those in university, Soria noted.

U.S Presidential elections 2024: Harris' biggest challenge; holding momentum till November
Kamala Harris experienced following her nomination convention, less than two weeks ago, when they believed that she would be linked to President Joe Biden's potentially disastrous reelection campaign. She has given hope to Democrats who had lost hope and revitalized a party that was about to lose hope. But the sobering truth is that success is far from certain. It is not likely that Harris will be able to defeat former President Donald Trump with the swing voters that the thousands of ecstatic delegates in the hall this week represented. Numerous presidential candidates throughout history have stirred their supporters during conventions but ultimately failed in November. Trump is no pushover, whatever else he may be. The next two and a half months will be brutal for Harris. Also Read: Not UPenn or Georgetown, Barron Trump is heading to New York for college this fall

No positive boost from DNC, can Harris beat Trump in November? Here's what latest polls say
Kamala Harris's closing remarks during the Democratic National Convention last night had little effect on attendees' intentions to vote. But there might be a change in the presidential contest now that Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is apparently withdrawing later today. According to FiveThirtyEight's most recent average of national polls, Harris leads Trump by 3.5 points. National polls have shown Harris to be slightly ahead of Trump on average, but the race is still close with swing states. According to the most recent national survey conducted by Outward Intelligence from August 18 to 22, Harris has not yet experienced any favorable boost following this week's DNC. Harris continues to lead Trump by +6 points in this poll, with 49.5 percent of the vote. But nothing has changed from the same poll conducted last week. According to the polls, both Trump and Harris would gain ground in a straight-up contest; however, Trump would narrow Harris's lead, with 48 percent to the vice president's 52 percent. Good news for Donald Trump! His support among Black voters has doubled
Donald Trump came to the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) convention a month ago. Likewise, Harris has also engaged in similar efforts in the expectation of votes and support from the Black voters. In the Morning Consult poll that took place in August and August 18, 2024, registered voters comprising 11,501 individuals were involved. These findings confirmed that Black voters have supported Trump much more than during his 2020 campaign. In the 2024 poll, 21% of Black voters support Trump, and this figure rises by 12 points from the Morning Consult poll as of 2020. The poll conducted has an error margin of one percentage point, with a plus-or-minus. Also Read: For the first time King Charles says he lost his sense of taste amid his cancer treatment

Kamala Harris isn't backing away from Biden's democracy focus. But she's putting her own spin on it
Joe Biden framed voters' choice in November in dark and ominous terms, painting Republican nominee Donald Trump as a menace to American democracy and questioning whether the country could survive if he won. The Democratic Party's new nominee, Vice President Kamala Harris, isn't exactly shrinking from that message, warning in her Thursday night acceptance speech of «extremely serious» consequences of Trump returning to the White House. But Harris is putting her own spin on what has been a central messaging strategy for Democrats. Rather than focusing on the existential threat a second Trump term could pose to the country's foundational institutions and traditions, she is expanding Democrats' definition of what's at stake in this election: It's about preserving personal freedoms.
