Buy-on-dips and sectoral rotation thesis in India to continue: Sandeep Tandon
«If I have to look at the complacency in the US particularly, particularly in technology, if I have to talk about the Nasdaq 100 instead of looking at the composite or even some narrow indices, we are seeing early signs or not even early signs; we are seeing that the complacency indicator has actually started spiking,» says Sandeep Tandon, Quant Mutual Fund. I know that your strategy, of course, is looking at sectors and stocks at those extreme inflection points. So, I am curious to understand your outlook when it comes to IT in particular. Do you believe that it has reached that inflection point? Would that be a contra call? What is the stance at the current juncture? Sandeep Tandon: Yes, it has reached a neglected territory some time back. In fact, you asked me if it was in September 2023 itself when you saw an extreme sort of neglected phase and some capitulation happened. Something happened at the beginning of the year also when the majority of analysts downgraded by the end of the first quarter of 2023-24. But I will also agree that when you look at it from the earnings visibility point of view or the traction point of view in the business, it is still on the lower side.

Donald Trump announces Ohio Senator JD Vance as running mate
Donald Trump announced Ohio Senator J.D. Vance as his running mate for the upcoming U.S. presidential election. Vance, once a vocal critic of Trump, has since become a staunch ally, marking a significant turnaround in their political relationship. Trump made the announcement via his social media platform, Truth Social, during a Republican Party convention in Milwaukee, which was heightened by the recent attempt on Trump's life. Born James David Bowman in 1984 in Middletown, Ohio, Vance's upbringing in the struggling Appalachian coal country shaped his perspective. After serving in the Marines and earning degrees in political science and philosophy from Ohio State University and Yale Law School, Vance gained national attention with his memoir "Hillbilly Elegy."

Donald Trump: Resurrection of son of a gun
Donald Trump is now a martyr for the 'cause', no longer an ordinary candidate against Joe Biden. His supporters believe nothing less than the hand of god came between him and the assassin's bullet. Within hours, Republicans were sharing an image of Christ with his hand on Trump's shoulder. Political benefits were instant. Elon Musk endorsed Trump, as did another billionaire. The script flipped: it was the Democrats' demonisation of the Republican candidate that led to the assassination attempt, not the general political tinderbox that American politics has become over the past decade to which Trump has generously contributed, as have fringe Left groups. For the Democrats, an already dicey election just got harder. Internal turmoil is currently their signature tune. Biden has been fighting polls and party leaders to insist he is their best bet even though voters vehemently disagree. Debates on TV channels are a sad reflection on a party seeped in doubt, despair and disarray. Biden hopes the assassination attempt will unite Dems behind him, but the opposite may happen now that Trump is stronger.

Donald Trump forges ahead in White House bid after surviving shooting
Donald Trump cements his hold on his Republican Party at its 2024 convention this week, having survived an assassination attempt and navigated numerous legal tangles on the road to the party's presidential nomination. During the four-day event beginning on Monday, the former president will announce his choice for a running mate, having cited as frontrunners Ohio U.S. Senator J.D. Vance, Florida U.S. Senator Marco Rubio and North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum, all of whom will speak at the gathering. While the event in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, will be a festive affair to formally nominate Trump, it occurs at a tense moment in U.S. history on the road to the Nov. 5 election rematch between President Joe Biden, 81, and Trump, 78.

BJP’s Rajya Sabha tally dips after retirement of 4 members. Will this impact passage of key bills during Budget session?
BJP retired, reducing the party’s strength in the Upper House to 86 and the NDA’s to 101, from a current total of 226 due to 19 vacancies. Despite this reduction, the NDA can still pass key legislation with the support of seven non-aligned nominated members, two Independents, and allied parties such as AIADMK and YSRCP during the upcoming budget session. However, promptly filling the vacancies in the nominated category is essential to minimize the alliance's reliance on these external supports. The retiring nominated members include Rakesh Sinha, Ram Shakal, Sonal Mansingh, and Mahesh Jethmalani. They had joined the BJP after their nomination to Rajya Sabha. Another nominated member currently with the BJP is Gulam Ali, who will retire in September 2028.

Five steps for India’s new government to get its data act together
A newly elected government affords India an opportunity to re-examine and update a fundamental building block for its fast-developing economy: its data and statistical system. A transparent, robust and credible data system is important for any country because it provides critical inputs to policymakers, investors, political parties, researchers and the media to conduct and critically evaluate progress. The more dependable and credible the system is, the greater the efficacy of policy and trust in potential outcomes.

Area that hosted Trump rally could prove pivotal in 2024 election
BUTLER, Pa.—The assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump occurred in a largely rural slice of western Pennsylvania that in many ways typifies the regions Trump is leaning on for strong support in the coming election. Butler County, the site of Saturday’s Trump rally, and the surrounding area are home to an economy that has swung significantly in recent decades. The shift, from the decline of steel and manufacturing jobs to the rise of the natural-gas fracking industry, has left many workers displaced and unsettled.
