Manipur on mute: Manipur is not warming up to polls. Who wins or loses is not going to change much
Kuki communities in Manipur since May 3 last year, such a flurry of activity in the marketplace signals a revival of normalcy. “What normalcy?” Devi retorts with a poignant blend of anger and despair. “My daughter Mayuda is still confined in the shelters of a relief camp near Imphal. When the unrest erupted, she was just married, starting a new life with her husband in Churachandpur. The Kukis ravaged all their personal belongings, including the grocery shop they had taken on rent.” That’s just one side of the story. About 30 km northeast of Imphal, in Shangkai, Ngamminlen Haokip recounts a harrowing incident of armed Meitei assailants scaling up a nearby hill before launching a deadly assault on Thowai Kuki village. Shangkai is one of the 14 Kuki villages located in the foothills of Ukhrul district, “That’s Thowai Kuki,” he says, pointing towards a hill.

Congress in panic, holding rallies not to win elections but to save corrupt: Narendra Modi at Ajmer rally
Congress on the issue of corruption, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said the opposition party is in panic as he has shut their «shop of loot» and it was holding rallies not to win the elections but to save the corrupt. The Congress never thought about the poor, marginalised and youths… These people considered looting public money as their ancestral right. In the last 10 years, Modi has provided a permanent cure for the disease,» the prime minister said. Modi said that the third term of his government is not far and the government is going to take even bigger decisions against corruption in the first 100 days.

LS polls 'not fair' but despite that, INDIA bloc will get clear majority: Jairam Ramesh
Lok Sabha polls are «not fair» with opposition parties being targeted but despite that, the INDIA bloc will get a clear majority in the elections due to the public response to its "five nyay, 25 guarantees", senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said on Saturday. He also said the people of the country will «decisively reject» all attempts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to make the elections «unfree and unfair». There is a strong undercurrent of «enough of das saal anyay kaal» (10 years of injustice), the Congress general secretary said. Ramesh also hit out at Modi and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh over their recent remarks about the country being a «new India», which strikes inside enemy territory, saying these are «diversionary tactics» aimed at taking the focus away from the Congress' «real narrative» of «paanch nyay, pachees guarantees» and the manifesto.
