Waters Manufacturing Battlefield electronic BEL receives orders worth Rs 3,000 crore from Cochin Shipyard Ltd
Bharat Electronics Limited on Friday announced that it has received an order of Rs 2,118.57 crore from Cochin Shipyard Limited for supply of various equipment for Indian Navy. The order consists of consisting of Sensors, Weapon equipment, Fire Control systems and Communication equipment for six numbers of Next Generation Missile Vessels (NGMV), class of anti-surface warfare corvettes. The project will have participation of Indian electronics and associated industries, including MSMEs, which are sub vendors of BEL. The equipment manufactured by BEL are part of 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat' program. The The Bengaluru-headquartered defence major recently also received additional orders worth Rs 886 crore and the said orders pertain to upgrade of AFNET SATCOM N/W, upgrade of Akash Missiles with RF Seeker, Inertial Navigation System and other equipments with accessories and spares etc. Earlier in June, the comoany had bagged defence and non-defence orders worth Rs 2,191 crore.

Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi Inc's supplier Dixon Technologies India Ltd will reportedly open a massive new factory on the outskirts of New Delhi, Bloomberg News reported. Chinese-based company Xiaomi has been compelled to partner with Dixon for smartphone assembly because India is pressing Chinese companies to localize everything from manufacturing to distribution of devices. As per the Bloomberg report, Dixon will invest more than ₹4 billion ($48.2 million) over three years in the factory, which is spread over more than 300,000 square feet or the size of six football fields, and will largely produce Xiaomi smartphones.

India is likely to witness Rs 90,000 crore worth online gross merchandise value (GMV) in the festive month this year — up 18-20 per cent from last year's festive month sales, a report showed on Friday. Marking the 10th year of e-commerce festive season sales, the industry is expected to clock the GMV of Rs 5,25,000 crore for the entire year, according to the report by market research firm Redseer Strategy Consultants. Over the last 10 years, Indian e-tailing has transformed almost entirely as the annual GMV for the overall e-tailing industry has grown almost 20 times in the period. The 10th festive season sale period is even more significant this year considering the recent slowdown in consumption and the almost 3 years of external shocks on the economy, the report mentioned. «Over the last several quarters, we are seeing enhanced GMV contributions from categories beyond electronics.

Bond Exchange (BBX), the securities solutions management unit of the global investment bank said on Friday. BBX, which was launched in 2020 to simplify bond investing, is the world's first fractional bond exchange. The deal will enable Citi's clients who meet a certain criteria, to become participants on the exchange and trade bonds, with the investment bank providing settlement and custodial services. «The proprietary digital custody technology is scalable and will allow us to provide settlement and custody services for clients investing in assets issued on permissioned blockchain networks and digital financial management information systems (FMIs),» said Nadine Teychenne, head of digital assets for Citi Securities Services. The recent partnership is an extension to Citi being initially chosen by BBX in 2021 to act as a custodian for the underlying bonds issued and traded on its exchange as fractionalized assets. «Digital Custody is the next big step in the transformation of the bond market, making bond markets, more transparent, electronic and accessible to all,» said Rahul Banerjee, CEO and co-founder of BondbloX.

It said both the delegations underscored the importance of capacity building in ensuring secure cyberspace and agreed to cooperate in this aspect. The Indian delegation comprised senior officials from MEA, ministries of home affairs, defence, and electronics and information technology, National Security Council Secretariat, Department of Telecommunications, Indian Computer Emergency Response Team, National Critical Information Infrastructure Protection Centre and Embassy of India in Tokyo. The Japanese delegation included senior officials from National Centre of Incident Readiness and Strategy for Cybersecurity, Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communication, Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), MOFA and other departments concerned. India invited the Japanese delegation for the sixth India-Japan Cyber Dialogue in New Delhi next year.
