₹1,457 crore and involved 29,082 transactions, higher than both FY22 and FY23, as per the RBI’s annual report. Experts said mule accounts are used by scamsters for digital frauds that involve transferring money out of the victim’s bank account into a chain of accounts, making it harder to trace such funds. Typically, the mule accounts involve up to 15 accounts in a distribution chain, and this entire chain is kept ready at any point—with scammers tasked with live-tracing which accounts are operational, and which are not.

WTO accepts India, Taipei's request to delay adoption of ICT import duty dispute ruling till Oct
WTO's dispute settlement body has accepted a request from India and Chinese Taipei not to adopt the ruling against New Delhi's import duties on certain information and technology products till October-end, as both sides are engaged in resolving the matter mutually, an official said. ICICI Bank Q1 Results: Profit jumps 15% YoY to Rs 11,059 crore, NII up 7%
ICICI Bank on Saturday reported that its June quarter standalone profit after tax grew by 14.6% year-on-year (YoY) to Rs 11,059 crore while the net interest income (NII) rose 7.3% YoY to Rs 19,553 crore. The net interest margin was 4.36% in Q1 compared to 4.40% in Q4 of FY24 and 4.78% in Q1 of FY24. NII was in line with ET Now poll estimates while PAT was above expectations.

Privacy Commissioner of Canada has opened an investigation into allegations that some Loblaw customers have been unable to delete their PC Optimum accounts.The office has received several such complaints, spokesman Vito Pilieci said in an email Tuesday.He said the office can’t comment further due to the active investigation.Loblaw spokeswoman Catherine Thomas said in an email Tuesday that the company has processes to respond to account deletion requests in a timely manner, and that it will fully co-operate with the privacy commissioner’s office.In an email to one complainant viewed by The Canadian Press, an investigator for the commissioner’s office said they have received “a high number of complaints” regarding attempts to cancel PC Optimum accounts.Several complainants allege they have tried several times to delete their accounts, and that Loblaw has been unresponsive to their queries, the investigator wrote.Loblaw did not respond to a request for comment Wednesday regarding the specifics in the email.The PC Optimum loyalty program has more than 16 million active users, according to Loblaw’s 2023 annual report.The Office of the Privacy Commissioner oversees compliance with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) as well as the Privacy Act.According to their website, PIPEDA “sets the ground rules for how private-sector organizations collect, use, and disclose personal information in the course of for-profit, commercial activities across Canada.”Personal information under PIPEDA includes details such as a person’s name, age, income or ID number.

PLI scheme for large scale electronics manufacturing have cumulatively invested Rs 8,282 crore till June 2024, Parliament was informed on Wednesday. Minister of State for Electronics and IT Jitin Prasada in a written reply to Lok Sabha said that a total of 32 companies were approved with committed investment of Rs 11,324 crore and a projected production target of Rs 10.7 lakh crore under the PLI (Production Linked Incentive) scheme for Large Scale Electronics Manufacturing.
