Rajeev Chandrasekhar, the candidate of the BJP-led NDA in Thiruvananthapuram, on Monday announced the establishment of 10 Artificial Intelligence Labs in 10 colleges within the constituency. These labs will be operated with the technical help of a 'Global AI giant', the Minister told a press conference here. «We have got applications from 17 colleges, and as a first phase, AI labs will be allocated to 10 of them. The names are yet to be finalised,» Chandrasekhar said. He said these labs are allotted under the new India AI Mission.

TVS Motor has approved an interim dividend of Rs 8 apiece, which is about 800% of the face value, for the year ending March 2024. The dividend payout will cost the company about Rs 380 crore. government is equipping more than 100 colleges with electronic design automation (EDA) tools from Siemens EDA, Synopsys and Cadence, as part of efforts to prepare talent for the country’s developing semiconductor ecosystem. The country heads of these chip design software companies told ET that training with these tools ensures that students are industry-ready when they graduate.

₹76,000 crore, as it expects a mushrooming of chip fabs and testing units in the country in the years ahead. Mobile phone manufacturing in value terms jumped 21-fold to Rs 4.1 lakh crore in India in the last 10 years as government policy measures like PLI played a critical role in attracting global players to boost local production, industry body ICEA said in a statement. India now produces 97 per cent of its total mobile phone demand locally and 30 per cent of the total production in financial year 2024 is meant for export, the India Cellular and Electronics Association said. «Mobile phone production surged from Rs 18,900 crore in 2014-15 to an estimated Rs 4,10,000 crore in FY'24, registering an increase of 2000 per cent. In 2014-15, mobile phone exports from India were a mere Rs 1,556 crore. The industry expects to end FY24 with an estimated export of Rs 1,20,000 crore. This would mean a 7500 per cent increase in exports over a decade,» ICEA said. According to a note on manufacturing, in the field of smartphones, Apple and Samsung, have played a crucial role in boosting mobile phone exports from the country.

Chinese tech companies, including memory chipmaker ChangXin Memory Technologies Inc., according to people familiar with the matter, in a fresh bid to restrain the Asian country’s development of advanced semiconductors. The US Commerce Department’s Bureau of Industry and Security is considering adding ChangXin to its so-called Entity List, which restricts companies’ access to US technology, said the people, who asked not to be identified because the conversations are private. BIS is also considering restricting five other Chinese firms, the people said, while emphasizing that the list isn’t final.
