A Los Angeles-based broker who was a big seller of GWG Holdings bonds is facing a staggering $7.85 million in investor lawsuits as GWG winds its way through bankruptcy proceedings and no one knows what the bonds are worth.

Trade, investment, people-to-people links as well as regional and international security are among the issues up for discussion in next Thursday's talks, Foreign Minster Penny Wong's office said. The high-level dialogue had been held annually from 2014 until it was stopped in 2020. In a statement, Wong added that the talks represent 'another step towards increasing bilateral engagement and stabilising our relationship with China,' Former trade minister Craig Emerson will head the Australian delegation, which also includes their former foreign affairs minister Julie Bishop.

In the wake of restructuring efforts to distance itself from its founder, Leon Black, Apollo Global Management has another problem. On Wednesday, a lawsuit was lodged claiming that the company wrongfully agreed to pay  $570 million for the personal tax bills of its key executives.

US presidential race, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and Indian-American entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy find themselves tied at the second place in the Republican presidential field in a new poll, The Hill reported. An Emerson College poll showed DeSantis and Ramaswamy tied at 10 per cent each, trailing former President Donald Trump, who leads with 56 per cent. It is pertinent to mention that DeSantis, who was in second place, despite registering 21 percent in June has witnessed a huge fall as he currently stands at 10 per cent currently according to Emerson College Polling. On the other hand, Ramaswamy has risen to the second spot from a mere 2 per cent then. Pollsters also found somewhat more “shaky support” among DeSantis supporters than among those for Ramaswamy. Almost half of Ramaswamy backers said they will definitely vote for him, while only a third of DeSantis supporters said the same, according to The Hill. Meanwhile, more than 80 per cent of Trump supporters said they will definitely vote for the former president.

The Hill. The interesting development in favouring an Indian-American businessman comes days after Tesla founder Elon Musk advocated for Ramaswamy. Further on Friday, Ramaswamy also vocalised his opinion on the ways to end the Russia-Ukraine war.
