Regional banks suffered a steep sell-off Friday after a number of weak quarterly earnings reports highlighting the negative impact from higher interest rates soured investor sentiment toward the industry.

Gold Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) also decreased in the period under review, as per the data from the Association of Mutual Funds in India (Amfi). «With a continued hike in interest rates in the US, inflation still higher than expectations, and the growth rate slowing down, the appeal of gold as a safe haven and hedge against inflation is expected to continue,» Melvyn Santarita, analyst and manager of research at Morningstar Investment Adviser India, said. According to the data, gold-linked ETFs saw an inflow of Rs 175.3 crore last month as compared to Rs 1,028 crore in August.

mutual fund industry spiked from ₹39.88 trillion in September 2022 to ₹47.79 trillion in Sept 2023. Out of this, assets held by individual investors rose from ₹22.75 lakh crore in Sept 2022 to ₹28.10 lakh crore, registering an increase of 23.51 percent, shows industry trends data revealed by the Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI). At the same time, the value of institutional assets increased from ₹17.13 lakh crore in Sept 2022 to ₹19.69 lakh crore in Sept 2023, an increase of 14.96 percent.

“Geopolitical events tend to have long-term consequences. The strike price for the tender offer was 305p per ordinary share, below the maximum tender price of 315p but above the trust’s current share price of 302p.

Investing in the US bonds for the purpose of diversification can sound like a very interesting idea. Can you explain the entire trajectory of the US bonds looking at the interest rate scenario. Do you think it is a good time to lock your money in these kinds of investment avenues? Broadly on the interest rate trajectory side, worldwide, from 2022 onwards, central banks have been pushing rates higher.
