Venice Film Festival, revealed the official lineup for the 80th edition of the prestigious event today. Meanwhile, the Venice Film Festival has already switched its opening selection, after the movie that had been slated to open pulled out because of the ongoing Hollywood strike, organisers said. Edoardo De Angelis' «Comandante» will now open the 80th Venice International Film Festival, in place of Luca Guadagnino's «Challengers», the festival said in a statement late on Friday. «Challengers» featuring US star Zendaya, «will not participate at the Festival following a decision made by the production,» owing to ongoing industrial action in Hollywood, it said. Venice festival is set to commence on August 30 and will end on September 9 with the screening of «La sociedad de la nieve» («Society of the Snow») by Spanish director Juan Antonio Bayona, the organisers said.

This move comes as part of Netflix's continuous efforts to keep viewers hooked to its vast library of content.Variety has reported that starting from Monday, the 'My Netflix' tab will replace the Downloads tab on the Netflix app, providing users with a streamlined experience. The tab incorporates various sections, including a consolidated list of downloaded TV shows and movies, titles that have received a thumbs-up, items saved in the My List watch list, watched trailers, set reminders for upcoming releases, a list of ongoing series and films, and a record of recently viewed content. According to Edith Chao, the Netflix product manager, the 'My Netflix' tab is tailored to users' preferences, and the more they interact with the platform, the more customized the recommendations will become.

Poor Things, Next Goal Wins, Wish and Magazine Dreams, all originally set for release this year, might be affected, as per Bloomberg.  However, any decisions regarding these films will be contingent on the outcome of the ongoing review, as per the sources who requested anonymity while discussing internal matters. Certain movies might be too far along in their marketing campaigns to be altered.

In a recorded video message shared with Mumbai-based Film Heritage Foundation and its founder Shivendra Singh Dungarpur, Bachchan appreciated the 'Lifetime Achievement Award for Cinema Projection' that has been instituted by the FHF to celebrate the «unsung heroes» of the film industry. Bachchan, in his over a minute-long video, said, «The world of a projector, a beam of light in a dark room theatre, and flicker of images on the big screen. That was, what cinema was for me». «As the fate of single-screen cinemas, unfortunately, hangs by a thread, many of these projectionists have lost their livelihood. It is important to remember and recognise their immense contribution to the history of Indian cinema,» he said. The veteran cine actor said he was pleased to learn that Film Heritage Foundation had instituted a 'Lifetime Achievement Award for Cinema Projection' to celebrate the unsung heroes, «who brought the magic of cinema to the silver screen». Dungarpur on Sunday said the foundation will honour three projectionists with this award at a special event, to be held on Wednesday at Mumbai's heritage Regal Cinema, a single-screen theatre built in 1933. The awards will be an annual affair, he said.

K Raheja Corp has acquired a 3.72-acre land parcel on LBS Marg in Mumbai’s central suburb Mulund for Rs 130 crore. The company is planning to develop a premium residential project on the said parcel.
