COST FIVE Election Highways community chess NOT Lok Sabha election: After Maratha stir, BJP's Raosaheb Danve may not have it easy this time
BJP MP Lok Sabha Raosaheb Danve from Jalna, the epicentre of the Maratha protests, is battling anti-incumbency and anger from the Maratha community. Although Danve is a Maratha, his community is miffed with the BJP as it blames the party for not including the community in the OBC category for reservation in jobs and education. The Maratha protests had its epicentre in Jalna where Maratha leader Manoj Jarange Patil first began his indefinite fast from Antarvali Sarati village demanding that the Maratha community be included in the OBC category. Danve's victory over the last two elections over his Congress rival Vilas Autade has been more than 2.5-3 lakh. But this time, there could be a tough contest. For starters, the Congress has dropped Autade and given the ticket to Kalyan Kale who contested against Danve in 2009 and lost. Danve's victory against Kale was by a margin of just 8,482 votes. Kale was a two-term MLA from Phulambri assembly constituency.

FIVE economy WhatsApp country Features East has potential to drive India's growth: Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman
Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Thursday said eastern India has potential to emerge as the country's growth engine with a decisive push to industrialisation, adding that a mineral-rich state like Jharkhand must get rid of rampant corruption to draw businesses. Pitching for a change in governance, the minister said Jharkhand has been reeling under rampant corruption, migration and lawlessness. The state is ruled by a coalition government led by the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha and the BJP is the main opposition party. Sitharaman was speaking at an event on «Eastern India: Engine of Growth For Vikshit Bharat» in Ranchi. Provident FIVE Gap Election Flushing social Money matters in Indian elections but it is no guarantee for victory
2024 general elections is that their outcome is a foregone conclusion. It's Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'guarantee' that NDA will return with 400-plus seats. Even if the outcome falls short by 100 seats, BJP will remain comfortably in power for another five years. So, it may be a bit strange to also hear that BJP is projected to spend more than double of what it did in the 2019 general elections. 2024 Lok Sabha elections are the most expensive polls not just in India's history but in the world's, according to The Economist. Centre for Media Studies (CMS) has projected an expenditure of ₹1.35 lakh crore, double the amount spent in 2019. In 2019, BJP outspent Congress by almost a factor of three. This year's gap will most likely increase given that BJP is flush with funds, and Congress has its accounts 'frozen' — or, rather, some of the party's accounts 'attached' by the I-T department for alleged non-payment of dues as per I-T rules. Can you imagine what political parties would have spent if the electoral field was more competitive, and the election was not a 'foregone conclusion'? In the US, which has the second-highest spending on elections, elections are fought on small margins. For instance, the difference in the projected polling averages for Donald Trump and Joe Biden in the forthcoming elections, based on polls during April, was less than 2%, with the margin falling to less than 1% in the second half of the month, according to psephologist Nate Silver's 538 website on ABC News.

Provident FIVE CEO security wellness show reports 3% mutual fund accounts have ‘KYC Hold’ status: AMFI
mutual fund KYC (know your customer) rules came into effect from April 1, around 3% of MF accounts have ‘KYC Hold’ status, stated the Association of Mutual Funds of India (AMFI) on Thursday. While noting that the mutual fund industry is addressing concerns for a smooth KYC process, AMFI CEO Venkat Chalasani said, “Together with AMCs, distributors and other stakeholders, we are committed to facilitating a seamless KYC validation process for all, thereby ensuring the integrity and accessibility of mutual fund investments across the board.” “If KYC was to be an issue, then you clearly would have seen a downtick in transaction count. Amounts may not necessarily be the best indicator. It is really the number of transactions. And I think we have to, from a perspective of the industry, thank the regulator as well because they have also been pushing all of us, AMCs, MFDs, RIAs, etc, to make sure we handhold the customer,” said Anthony Heredia, MD & CEO of Mahindra Manulife Mutual Fund.

UPS FIVE Action country Investigations Congress dares PM to investigate Ambani, Adani for 'distributing' black money to it
Congress on Thursday challenged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to use his investigating agencies like the CBI and the ED to probe the charges he has levelled against businessmen Ambani and Adani that they were distributing sacks full of black money in tempos. Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate claimed that the prime minister was never seen so weak and desperate that he ended up making great revelations about corruption in the country and exposing his own friends. She was referring to the charge on Wednesday made by prime minister who, for the first time during Lok Sabha poll campaign, accused the Congress of having a «deal» with «Ambani and Adani», and asked if the party has received «tempo loads of black money» from the two industrialists for its leader Rahul Gandhi to stop «abusing» them. Shrinate pointed out that Rahul Gandhi has been saying the same thing for the last 10 years that the big businessmen possessed black money but the prime minister was not taking action against them.
