Air India CEO warns aircraft shortage to last at least four years
Air India CEO Campbell Wilson on Tuesday said the global aircraft shortage hampering airline growth will persist for four to five years as supply snags hobble production at jetmakers Boeing and Airbus. Speaking at an event organised by travel news website Skift, Wilson said he sees pinch points in the supply of narrowbody jet engines, business and first class seats, and some elements of aircraft fuselages. Air India is in the midst of an ambitious turnaround strategy two years after Tata Group took control of the airline, but its restructuring efforts have been complicated by jet delivery delays.

Anuj Gupta recommends staggered gold investment for long-term gains
«Gold demand is not coming only from the individual. Even we have seen lots of central banks increasing their gold holdings. So, the demand is the main reason that gold prices are increasing in last almost five years,» says Anuj Gupta, HDFC Securities. My grandmother used to say, buy gold, do not ever sell gold. It is coming out so true. Gold is up 15x in last 20 years. Why is gold prices moving the way it is moving? Anuj Gupta: See, the demand is the only concern is the main reason that gold prices increased sharply. And also, the uncertainty in the global market. In last five years, in COVID or after the COVID, we saw a huge jump in gold prices due to the demand because now investors are taking gold as an investment, not as a jewellery, so we saw a huge demand in gold bar, in gold coins, the demand is increasing.

Mayuresh Joshi’s top two stocks for 3x-4x growth in five years
«Base case scenario getting worked out that the first half of the next financial year, earnings should start bottoming out, reflecting in probably the spread narrowing as well,» says Mayuresh Joshi, Head Equity, Marketsmith India. The question which we are debating, deliberating, and discussing is that do we have a durable trading bottom in place for the market now and it will take a lot of global bad news or local events to break that recent low. Mayuresh Joshi: We have been analysing a lot of aspects, including how the gap between the bond yields and the earnings yields have probably panned out over the last 10 to 15 years and in terms of this narrowing of spreads, we are below the long term averages.

Which sector will lead the next market rally? Jyotivardhan Jaipuria answers
Jyotivardhan Jaipuria, Founder & MD, Valentis Advisors, says after the correction, they are getting a little more constructive on the market. He is no longer worried about high valuations of the Indian market because relatively, the valuations are looking okay. Now, we trade at around 65% premium to emerging market PEs, which is more or less in line with global averages and way below what it was six months back. As for earning growth, the March quarter will likely be closer to 8% and next year it may be 11-12%. Once earnings growth picks up, the market will feel relatively better and start moving up. Jaipuria also says he likes banks, pharma and in the consumption space the three picks are white goods, travel and probably auto ancillaries. Do you think banks will lead this rally going ahead and that is the sector to be in at this point in time because we have a lot of them saying yes, because the valuations are now reasonable, it is attractive, and banks is where one should be. Jyotivardhan Jaipuria: We also like banks and unfortunately, we are with the consensus here. The reason we like banks is valuations. If we do 10-year valuations for all sectors, banks are the only sector where valuations currently are below the 10-year valuations. So, to that extent, there is a lot of margin of comfort there because at low valuations, you need fundamentals to improve a bit, and then you can get decent share price performances, so that is why we like the banks.

2 top stock recommendations from Aditya Arora
«So, the bias is positive and the breakout on the index will happen above 22,750 on Nifty on the upside and on the downside the texture could deteriorate only if we break 22,100,» says Aditya Arora, Adlytick. Nifty has been sideways for the last five to six consecutive sessions. When are we going to really pick up a trend? Aditya Arora: The market is consolidating with positive bias. Although market is consolidating in a tight range of 22,200 to 22,700, but a lot of midcaps and smallcaps are doing well. A lot of sectors are coming out of that beaten down space where every day it was a red day, but now we see green days.

India's 5th gen stealth fighter jet set to soar ahead of Pakistan as China preps for 6th gen aircrafts
The committee, led by Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh and comprising IAF Vice Chief Air Marshal S P Dharkar, Secretary (Defence Production) Sanjeev Kumar, and senior officials from DRDO and the Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA), is expected to submit its report next month. This move comes as Pakistan aims to acquire at least 40 J-35A fifth-generation stealth jets from China, which is already showcasing prototypes of its sixth-generation aircraft. Meanwhile, China has stationed its fifth-generation Chengdu J-20 jets at airfields along the Indian border, such as Hotan and Shigatse. Given this, alongside delays in the production of the fourth-generation Tejas jets by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), a source told TOI that the committee's primary goal is to «devise how best to get AMCA from the drawing board into the air by shrinking timelines and improving efficiency, including a good workable production-cum-business model with much greater private sector participation.»
