It's like watching a plot twist in the financial markets! Institutional investors, such as foreign institutional investors (FIIs) and domestic institutional investors (DIIs), often have access to in-depth research and resources that most retail investors don't. Their moves can hint at underlying strengths in a company that might not be immediately visible.

US Election 2024: Forget swing states, this one district in Nebraska could decide the Trump vs. Harris battle for White House
US presidential election on November 5 could hinge on a single congressional district in Nebraska. While the national race involves over 330 million voters, the 2nd Congressional District, centered around Omaha, may play a pivotal role in determining whether Democrat Kamala Harris or Republican Donald Trump emerges victorious. Most states allocate their electoral votes on a winner-take-all basis. However, Nebraska, along with Maine, distributes one electoral vote per congressional district. In the 2020 election, Biden won one of Nebraska's five electoral votes, while Trump secured the other four. With both candidates focusing heavily on this district, its single electoral vote could influence the overall election outcome, especially in a tightly contested race.

Forget a repeat of last 3 and 5-years’ returns! Even low double digits returns look tough: Nilesh Shah
Nilesh Shah, MD, Kotak AMC, says the returns we have seen in the last three and five years are unlikely to be repeated over the next three and five years. Last five years’ returns from Jan ‘20 to September ‘24 were about 21% for the broad market and about 30% plus for small and midcap. Those returns are unlikely to be repeated over the next three or five years. The returns could still be in the low double digits, if there is a fair possibility that India continues to deliver and our peers continue to score a self-goal. In the last couple of weeks, it has been local versus global. Globally, things are okay, locally, things are bad. Do you think this trend of local versus global will continue? Nilesh Shah: In some sense, local and global are two opposite sides of a coin and in some sense they are on the same side. If stock prices go up, both local and global investors benefit. But the driver for local and global investors could be different. Global investors have a much wider plate to invest into. Local investors, by definition, are constrained to invest in India. Global investors often come down or top down, though many of them have established offices in India.

Committed to making Mumbai slum-free, says Eknath Shinde; takes swipe at Uddhav, Ladki Bahin opposers
Eknath Shinde on Sunday said the Mahayuti government aims to make Mumbai slum-free and its focus is on providing affordable housing to the poor. Addressing a rally in Kurla for party candidate Mangesh Kudalkar, the CM said his government had struck a fine balance between welfare schemes and development projects. «If we can work so much in two-and-half years, imagine how much we will work in five years,» he told the impressive gathering while seeking a renewed mandate. «We will give the poor affordable homes. Don't the poor have the right to a house in Mumbai? Can't the son of a poor farmer be CM? Or only those born with a silver spoon can become CM,» he said in a veiled attack on Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray. The Mahayuti government had distributed Rs 350 crore from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund and one lakh had benefitted due to this, he said, and asked the gathering to «teach a lesson to those who call your benefits 'revdis' (freebies)». Attacking the opposition for running down the 'Ladki Bahin Yojana' and even going to court to stall it, Shinde asked the gathering to «be careful of these evil brothers».
