It is a must subscribe, but post that, is it a must buy even if there is a gap up listing? The Tata Technologies IPO garnered significant attention following the filing of its DRHP and today it has made its debut on Dalal Street. The earnings valuation is relatively cheap. We can also say that the IPO has an attractive and not an aggressive valuation. So, with a long-term perspective, we can subscribe to the IPO even after a big gap up because the Tata Group has its name as its legacy.

Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals Ltd. traded at Rs 289.95 on BSE at 11:52AM (IST) on Wednesday, down 0.38 per cent from previous close. The stock quoted a 52-week low price of Rs 251.25 and a high of Rs 376.2.

₹600.77 crore via the issuance of fresh equity shares, whereas existing shareholders and promoters will offload 35,161,723 shares, aggregating to ₹492.26 crore. The total size of the IPO was ₹1,092.26 crore. The price band for the offer has been fixed at ₹133–140 per equity share with a face value of ₹10 each.

Sensex closed 275.62 points higher at 65,930.77, while the Nifty 50 gained 89.40 points, or 0.45%, to settle at 19,783.40. Nifty 50 formed a small positive candle on the daily chart with upper shadow and with gap up opening. The opening upside gap remains unfilled.

Sudip Bandyopadhyay, Group Chairman, Inditrade Capital, says both the dominant segments where Tata Technology is involved are supposed to be exploding at this stage. Tata Technology will benefit from a credible management, fantastic track record, and a great parentage. The valuation at which it is coming is also very reasonable compared with its peers. The Tata Tech IPO will open on November 22 after a hiatus of almost 18 to 19 years from the Tata stable. The IPO price band has been decided at Rs. 475-500. Despite that, the implied valuation turns out to be around Rs 20,000 odd crore. Tata Tech's valuations are around 25 to 30 times forward earnings and that compares with an L&T Tech which is upwards of 35 times. KPIT Tech which is trading at 60 times forward earnings. Tata Elxsi is close to 65-70 times. What is your view on Tata Tech? Well, I am extremely positive.
