My first trip to Norway, with AI as a guide
trip to Norway, a place I'd never been. So I did none of my usual obsessive online research and instead asked three AI planners to create a four-day itinerary. None of them, alas, mentioned the saunas or the salmon. Two assistants were, however, eager to learn more about me in order to tailor their initially generic recommendations, which they had spewed out within seconds. Vacay, a personalized travel planning tool, presented me with a list of questions, while Mindtrip, a new AI travel assistant, invited me to take a quiz. (ChatGPT, the third assistant, asked nothing.)

Why has Microsoft decided to provide iPhones to Chinese employees who use Android smartphones?
Microsoft has asked its employees working in China to use only iPhones for work. According to Bloomberg, the Bill Gates-founded company asked hundreds of its employees to verify their identities through the Microsoft Authenticator password manager and the Identity Pass app, available on Apple devices. As Google's mobile services, including its Google Play app store, are not available in China, the company blocked employees from using Android devices to access its corporate platforms. Consequently, Apple's App Store remains the only place for Microsoft employees in China to download and use the Microsoft Authenticator and Identity Pass apps.

Broadcasters move NCLAT against Google fees on apps
IBDF), a body of television broadcasters and OTT platforms, Friday sought relief from the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) against an interim order by the antitrust regulator that had refused to restrain Google from imposing service fees on app developers. The Competition Commission of India (CCI) had in March refused to grant the applicant and some others interim relief from Google's app payment policies until it reached a final verdict. The IBDF's counsel has now urged the NCLAT to stop Google from collecting fees on the transactions of apps listed on the Google Play Store, including for paid app downloads and in-app purchases.

China makes mock dill of destroying US F-35 and F-22 fighter jets. Is PLA preparing for war with US? Details here
People's Liberation Army exploding and destroying US fighter jets worth £78,000 each when the two countries are not at war? Not exactly. There is no US-China war and the Chinese Army has not bombed the US Air Force. What they have done is taking mock drills of exploding jet fighters as a part of their training exercise. According to 'Express', Airbus and Google Earth have captured the images showing destroying US F-35 and F-22 fighter jets in a remote desert area in northwest China. The satellite pictures suggest that the Chinese military destroyed these dummy aircraft with a nearby runway displaying scorch marks and bomb blast craters.

To get skilled in AI, companies let employees play in Metaverse
artificial intelligence playing a pivotal role, companies are moving beyond a one-size-fits-all model of learning to ensure that employees are skilled in the emerging technology. Internal platforms remain key to delivering learning programmes, but opportunities for practical hands-on experience on the metaverse, learning sessions with experts from Google and Microsoft, and personalised programmes from edtech firms among others are also being offered by companies to help employees get trained in AI. With about 420,000 employees engaged in AI-related job functions, India has the second largest installed talent base in this segment globally, according to a report earlier this year by IT industry association Nasscom and the Boston Consulting Group.
