UPS IPO Booking Manufacturing track gossips reports Anand Tandon would avoid two-wheelers altogether. Here’s why
Anand Tandon, Independent Analyst, says “if one has to be in two-wheelers, again, the premiumisation is definitely a longer-term theme. But that said, again, the number of new players that have come in and the new vehicles that are being launched will automatically put a kind of a spoke in the wheel, as it were. It will be a while before the market shares etc. settle down there. Broadly, I am not very bullish on that sector.”Let us begin by discussing the auto sector because of late it has been doing quite alright for itself. Bajaj Auto management told us how demand has seen a solid pickup from the months of July-August onwards. They are saying demand is fairly broad-based across rural as well as urban India. But within the two-wheeler space itself, what would you go for? Would you go for the mass themes like TVS, Bajaj, Hero or is the premiumisation play at Royal Enfield?I would not go for two-wheelers in the first place. I think the valuations for most of these companies are 50-60% higher than they were at a time when they were doing very well a few years ago compared to what they are doing today where they are still struggling to achieve growth and where the competition has actually doubled up quite considerably because of technological changes.

gossips Takeover Support Toshiba to go private after winning shareholder support for JIP's $14 billion takeover offer
Japan Industrial Partners (JIP) gained 78.65% of Toshiba through a tender offer, Toshiba said, coming a step closer to completing a $14 billion deal to take the company private. Ownership of more than a two-third majority would be enough for the JIP group to squeeze out remaining shareholders. Toshiba is now set to be delisted as early as December, ending its 74-year history as a listed firm. The deal puts the electronics-to-power stations maker in domestic hands after years of battles with overseas activist shareholders. JIP is joined by some 20 Japanese companies, including financial services firm Orix and chipmaker Rohm. Toshiba in March accepted JIP's buyout offer valuing the industrial conglomerate at 2 trillion yen ($13.5 billion), with no prospects of a higher offer or competing bid, even though the 4,620 yen per share offer price was considered by some as unsatisfactory. «We are deeply grateful to many of our shareholders for being understanding of the company's position,» Toshiba Chief Executive Taro Shimada said in a statement on Thursday.

Brain implants are a favourite fictional trope for dystopic tales of computers taking over the lives of people and the world at large. These are to be carried out on patients with paralysis caused by spinal cord injuries or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
