Tamil Nadu has pipped Maharashtra and Gujarat to emerge as the top state in the Niti Aayog’s Export Preparedness Index 2022 which assesses the readiness of the states in terms of their export potential and performance.  Gujarat had topped the chart in the last two rankings. The index released on Monday showed that Tamil Nadu with an overall score of 80.89 topped the third edition of rankings while Maharashtra with a score of 78.20 was second while Karnataka (76.36) was third.  Gujarat with a score of 73.22 was fourth, followed by Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, West Bengal and Kerala in that order in the ranking of coastal states, according to the government think tank’s report released on Monday. Among hilly/Himalayan states, Uttarakhand (59.13) has ranked at the top position.

Shares of Maruti Suzuki(up 0.89 per cent), Ashok Leyland(up 0.38 per cent), Bosch(up 0.36 per cent) and Eicher Motors(up 0.08 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack. On the other hand, Hero MotoCorp(down 1.43 per cent), Tata Motors(down 1.02 per cent), TIINDIA(down 0.67 per cent), Mahindra & Mahindra(down 0.66 per cent) and Balkrishna Industries(down 0.61 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

Federal Bank(up 1.93 per cent), State Bank of India(up 0.68 per cent), Punjab National Bank(up 0.49 per cent), Kotak Mahindra Bank(up 0.47 per cent) and IndusInd Bank(up 0.15 per cent) were among the top gainers. Bandhan Bank(down 2.59 per cent), IDFCBANK(down 0.85 per cent), Bank of Baroda(down 0.53 per cent), ICICI Bank(down 0.46 per cent) and Axis Bank(down 0.43 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

National Stock Exchange (NSE) has announced a change in expiry days for Nifty Bank options and Nifty Midcap Select Index futures and options. With effect from September 4, Nifty Bank weekly index options will expire every Wednesday instead of Thursday. The first Wednesday weekly expiry for Nifty Bank will be on September 6.
