“Put your big boy pants on”: Desmond Howard calls out Pete Thamel for reporting from inside Michigan Stadium
ESPN analyst Desmond Howard criticized colleague Pete Thamel for reporting from inside Michigan Stadium rather than amidst the crowd during the pre-game show ahead of the Michigan-Ohio State football game. Howard expressed surprise at Thamel's deviation from the usual reporting style, questioning why Thamel chose to be inside the stadium for the updates. Howard's comment suggested a preference for reporters being in the midst of the crowd, a tradition maintained throughout the college football season. Howard's remarks came during ESPN College GameDay, where Thamel had been providing updates on the Michigan sign-stealing scandal. The controversy surrounding Thamel's reporting had led to threats from some Michigan fans. In response, College GameDay host Rece Davis defended Thamel, explaining that he had received threats from the «lunatic fringe,» and the decision to have him inside the stadium was made to ensure his safety. Despite the security concerns, Howard maintained his stance, emphasizing that Thamel should have continued reporting from the crowd, citing the presence of security and the generally friendly nature of fans.

The vital question may linger forever: Did Oscar Pistorius know he was shooting at his girlfriend?
Oscar Pistorius pulled the trigger four times on his 9mm pistol, firing into the head and body of girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp as she stood inside a locked toilet cubicle in his home, the vital question has still never been answered: Did the world-famous Olympic runner know he was shooting at and killing his girlfriend that Valentine's Day in 2013? Pistorius has always claimed that he didn't, that he mistook her for an intruder in his home. Steenkamp's family believes he intended to shoot the 29-year-old model and law graduate after becoming enraged in a nighttime argument. Only Pistorius really knows for sure what he did, and he may be the only person who ever will. The lasting twist of Pistorius' case, which shocked and riveted millions and was back in the spotlight Friday when he was granted parole, is that even his conviction for murder didn't provide an answer to the lingering question. Pistorius' parole comes 10 years after the killing.

Relief and sadness for Palestinian prisoners freed in Gaza hostage deal
Thirty nine Palestinian women and minors detained on various charges were freed under an accord brokered by Qatar that also saw the release of 13 Israeli hostages seized by Hamas gunmen during their assault on Israel last month. «There is no real joy, even this little joy we feel as we wait,» said Sawsan Bkeer, the mother of 24-year-old Palestinian prisoner Marah Bkeer, jailed for eight years on knife and assault charges in 2015. Israeli police were seen raiding her Jerusalem home before her daughter was released. «We are still afraid to feel happy and at the same time, we do not have it in us to be happy due to what is happening in Gaza,» she said. More than 100 more Palestinian prisoners are due to be released over the coming four days and more may be freed if the truce is extended. In Beitunia, a city near Ramallah in the occupied West Bank, a large crowd, mostly of young men, greeted freed prisoners by cheering, honking car horns and marching in the street carrying Palestinian flags. Some in the crowd also carried the flag of the Hamas militant group that rules blockaded Gaza and chanted in support of Abu Ubaida, the spokesperson of the group's armed wing. «I can't express how I feel.
