Days after Modi-Nitish bonhomie at G20 meet; BJP, JD(U) lock horns
BJP leader Sanjay Jaiswal on Wednesday asserted that much should not be read into pleasantries exchanged between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on the sidelines of the G20 meet in Delhi. Jaiswal, who headed the Bihar unit of the BJP till a few months ago, ruled out the possibility of a thaw in relations with the JD(U) of Kumar, claiming that the chief minister had «become a liability» when the two parties were in alliance. Jaiswal, who is now a member of the BJP national executive, said this in reply to queries from journalists at Jhanjharpur, in north Bihar district of Madhubani, where he was inspecting preparations for the upcoming tour of Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Shah, who will be on a day-long visit of Jhanjharpur on September 16, is likely to address a public meeting besides attending a function of the Sashastra Seema Bal. Jaiswal, who was asked about apprehensions of realignment expressed by former chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi, who recently joined the NDA after being snubbed by Nitish Kumar, said: «What happened in Delhi was just a common courtesy.

Van Gogh paintings snatched then found
van Gogh painting snatched from a Dutch museum during the Covid-19 lockdown, AFP looks back at some other heists involving works by the Dutch master: On August 21, 2010, Van Gogh's "Poppy Flowers", worth $55 million at the time, was cut out of its frame in broad daylight at the Mohamed Mahmoud Khalil Museum outside Cairo. An investigation revealed that the museum's alarm system did not work and that 30 out of 47 surveillance cameras were out of order. It was the second time the small painting from 1887, which is still missing, had been stolen — the first was in 1997, when it was taken from the same museum and was found only 10 years later, in Kuwait. Van Gogh's «Blossoming Chestnut Branches» (1890), among four Impressionist masterpieces valued at more than 112 million euros, was stolen from a Zurich museum on February 10, 2008, in one of Europe's biggest-ever art heists.

The laws do not bestow on shareholders of a company an inherent right to participate in its management; it is the board with which governance and oversight of management is entrusted. Shareholders, especially public shareholders, inevitably have to depend on the disclosures made by entities to the bourses.

iPhone speaker dock I was given by my mum the previous Christmas is blasting out Carly Rae Jepson’s Call Me Maybe which, unlike most of the other hits that year, would come to stand the test of time quite perfectly. Less enduring would be the 30-pin Apple charger that made such a fine technological feat possible. Morocco earthquake death toll passes 2,800, survivors camp outdoors
Morocco devastated by the country's biggest earthquake in over a century camped outside for a fourth night on Monday, as the death toll rose to more than 2,800 people. Search teams from Spain, Britain and Qatar joined Moroccan efforts to find survivors from the 6.8 magnitude quake that struck in the High Atlas Mountains late on Friday, flattening the traditional mud brick houses ubiquitous in the region. State TV reported late on Monday that the death toll had risen to 2,862, with 2,562 people injured. With much of the quake zone in hard-to-reach areas, authorities have not issued any estimates for the number of missing. In the village of Tinmel, almost every house was pulverised and the entire community has been left homeless.
