According to the police timeline, Renu's was murdered between 9:30 am and 10:00 am on Sunday.
Her lifeless body was discovered around 5:00 pm when her concerned brother, unable to reach her, visited their residence. He found that the doors were locked, prompting him to contact the police.
Within half an hour, the police arrived and initiated a search, employing sniffer dogs in their efforts. Singh, concealed in his hideout, might have heard the commotion outside but remained undetected.
The breakthrough came around 2:00 am when a careful review of CCTV footage indicated that no one had left the house.
A subsequent search was conducted, and doors to the first-floor rooms, which had been locked, were forcefully opened. Inside a small, dark anteroom, Singh was found. According to police accounts, he had remained hidden for approximately nine hours, locking himself inside and disabling both his and Renu's cellphones after her brother's arrival.
Renu, originally from Patna, had been married to Nitin for 33 years, and the couple's son had settled in the United States.
