In an interview with Fox News host Sean Hannity, Trump admitted that inflation is back, but insisted that it’s not his responsibility, even though his earlier statements suggested he would immediately reverse the trend, reported HuffPost.
Trump said “I’m only here for two and a half weeks… I had nothing to do with it,” as quoted by HuffPost. While he acknowledged the increase in prices but placed the blame entirely on Biden's administration.
His comment comes after the consumer price index for January rose by 3% compared to the previous year, a jump that surprised many analysts and raised concerns over rising living costs, as per the report.
However, back in 2024, Trump made repeated promises that he would bring prices down “starting on Day 1.” In an August 2024 speech, he claimed, “I will immediately bring prices down starting on Day 1,” a sentiment he echoed just days later, adding, “Starting the day I take the oath of office, I will rapidly drive prices down,” as quoted in the report.
