Retail chains & restaurants shut stores as consumption slows
The Pantaloons departmental chain run by Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Ltd (ABFRL) has exited over 40 stores in tier-two and smaller markets in this period. Most Shoppers Stop stores that have been closed are at high-street locations because they «have lost that critical mass» and the company is trying to move them inside malls. Jubilant FoodWorks Ltd, which runs multiple quick service restaurants, said there is a decline in dine-in orders for pizza chain Domino's stores on the high street, even though footfall in mall outlets is robust.

Telangana tunnel collapse: Search ops pick up pace to locate seven missing persons
Srisailam Left Bank Canal tunnel since February 22 picked up pace with the deployment of an 'autonomous hydraulic-powered robot' equipped with special machinery on Saturday. An autonomous hydraulic-powered robot is being used to remove soil, along with equipment such as a 30 HP capacity liquid ring vacuum pump and a vacuum tank machine, which facilitate the quick removal of soil and other debris inside the tunnel, accelerating the search operation, an official release said on Saturday. Approximately 620 cubic meters of soil and muck can be removed from the tunnel per hour using a conveyor belt, it added. Teams from the Army, National Disaster Response Force, State Disaster Response Force, HRDD (human remains detection dogs), state-run miner Singareni Collieries, a Hyderabad-based robotics company, and other agencies have been actively involved in the mission. The search operation has been ongoing round-the-clock, including de-watering efforts. The body of Gurpreet Singh, who worked as a Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) operator, was recovered on March 9 and handed over to his family members in Punjab.

'Scum,' 'crooked' elections and 'corrupt' media. What Trump said inside the Justice Department
Donald Trump delivered what sounded like one of his typical meandering, grievance-laden campaign speeches on Friday, but it was where he did it — inside the U.S. Department of Justice — that mattered. The appearance marked Trump's clearest exertion yet of personal control over the country's federal law enforcement apparatus, which is normally run by appointees who keep at least an arm's length from the president to avoid the appearance that politics are governing prosecutorial decisions. Trump, instead, embraced the notion of the agency as his own personal tool of vengeance. «As the chief law enforcement officer in our country, I will insist upon and demand full and complete accountability for the wrongs and abuses that have occurred,» Trump told the audience, with Attorney General Pam Bondi (who is technically the country's chief law enforcement officer) and FBI Director Kash Patel in the audience. One of Trump's favorite campaign songs, «YMCA,» played after he wrapped up his nearly hourlong address inside the department's ceremonial Great Hall. Here's a look at what Trump said, what the reality is and the significance of his words.

'This is horrifying!' K-Pop fans lash out at company seeking audition from girls as young as 3 for debut
Seo Hye-jin under Crea Studio. Despite Seo Hye-jin’s history of producing hit shows, Under 15 is generating buzz for all the wrong reasons. The show is actively scouting children between the ages of 3 and 15 from more than 70 countries, sparking widespread concern. Reports indicate that the producer’s goal is to form a group with an average debut age even lower than NewJeans’ 16.4 years, raising ethical questions about the industry's growing push toward increasingly younger idols. As the introductory poster of one of the contestants, eight-year-old Kim Ga Yoon, went viral on X, several netizens condemned the induction of such young children, pointing out that they are vulnerable to predators. Many also objected to the name of the programme, saying that such a suggestive name would attract the attention of pedophiles.

SIP investors aren’t even flinching at market slump! Are you one of them?
market volatility and benchmark indices down by 6% in February, the mutual fund monthly SIP inflows have declined by just 2%, which the market experts considers a natural tendency and behaviour of anyone to panic during the volatile market and SIPs are reduced or stopped. “It is a natural tendency and behaviour of anyone to panic especially when there is a lot of negativity in the media, both television and social media. It is generally seen that SIPs are reduced or stopped by those investors who do not have any access to a personal financé professional,” commented Rajesh Minocha, a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) and founder of Financial Radiance. “For long-term investors, this is actually a saving grace when valuations of stocks have gone past their intrinsic value and now are correcting. Such phases are the best times to stay invested through SIPs. The market's volatility allows investors to accumulate more units at lower prices for future benefits,” he further mentioned.

Canadian cafe's 'Trump sandwich' goes viral amid tariff war: Here is a bite of satirical delicacy with 'Russian dressing and small pickle'
U.S.-Canada tariff war has taken a deliciously petty turn, and this time, the battlefield is not the political stage but the sandwich board of a Canadian café. In response to President Donald Trump’s latest round of economic threats—and his bizarre proposal to make Canada the 51st U.S. state—a local eatery has introduced a culinary masterpiece that has the internet howling: The Trump Sandwich. So, what’s inside this politically seasoned delicacy? According to the café’s chalkboard menu, it’s served on “White Bread, Full of Baloney, with Russian Dressing and a Small Pickle.” The not-so-subtle jab at Trump’s policies, persona, and alleged Russian ties has turned the sandwich into an instant internet sensation.

Telangana tunnel collapse: Search for trapped workers enters 19th day
seven people trapped inside the partially collapsed SLBC tunnel here continued for the 19th consecutive day on Wednesday, with intensified efforts. Rescue teams including personnel from NDRF, state-run miner Singareni Collieries, rat miners and other agencies entered the tunnel along with equipment on Wednesday morning in a renewed effort to reach those trapped, official sources said. A team from a Hyderabad-based robotics company, along with a robot equipped with an AI-based camera, had entered the tunnel on Tuesday morning. Additionally, 110 rescue personnel were deployed. To minimise risks to rescuers, the Telangana government has decided to expand the use of robots as water and slush inside the tunnel pose significant challenges. Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, who visited the tunnel on March 2, had suggested that officials use robots inside the tunnel if necessary to ensure the safety of rescue personnel. As part of efforts to locate the missing individuals, rescue personnel once again deployed Human Remains Detection Dogs (HRDD) at the accident site, an official release said.

Trump drops nearly $90,000 on ‘beautiful’ red Tesla car he won’t drive; 'patriot' Elon Musk plays salesman
Elon Musk in a high-profile event at the White House on Tuesday. The transaction took place on the South Lawn, where several Tesla models, including the Cybertruck, were on display. The President’s purchase was seen as an endorsement of Musk and his work, at a time when the billionaire is facing significant opposition. Trump, seated inside the Model X, admired the vehicle, stating, «That's beautiful.» He later pointed to the model and confirmed it as his choice. Musk, who also serves as the head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), showed the President around the vehicles, highlighting the Cybertruck’s bulletproof exterior. But experts warn the unusual presidential backing of a private company could backfire. “Tesla is becoming a political symbol of Trump and DOGE, and that is a bad thing for the brand,” said Wedbush Securities financial analyst Dan Ives, referring to the advisory group in charge of cutting government spending led by Musk. “You think it’s helping, but it’s actually hurting.”
