Axis Bank sales manager in custody amid investigation into suicide of junior colleague
Axis Bank's sales manager was taken into custody on Thursday while authorities look into the circumstances surrounding the suicide death of his junior colleague on July 12, who was allegedly subjected to severe bullying at work for several months. In a statement left for her family, 27-year-old Shivani Tyagi described the difficult period she experienced in Axis House in Sector 128 after moving there in October 2023. The day she got her notice of termination, she ate poison. Police said on Thursday that the dismissal was a retaliatory action because Shivani had quit on July 10 following a contentious confrontation at work with a coworker, a woman of the same level, which had turned physical. The sales manager sent her a notice of termination rather than accepting her resignation.

Uttarakhand: 14-member team heads to Sunderdhunga to inspect temple built illegally by 'godman'
Bageshwar district administration in Uttarakhand has dispatched a team of officials to Sunderdhunga, located at a height of more than 12,000 feet, to inspect an unauthorised temple built in the eco-sensitive zone by a self-styled godman. This follows a complaint by the residents of nearby villages that the baba, who lives in the temple and introduces himself as Chaitanya Akash, bathes in Devi Kund, a sacred lake that flows below the structure. The villagers have called it an act of desecration as they bathe their deities in the lake once a year. Bageshwar District Magistrate (DM) Anuradha Pal said the 14-member team sent to Sunderdhunga comprises police and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) personnel and officials of revenue and forest departments. The baba bathes in the lake and also encourages tourists to do so, she said.
