Litecoin (LTC), the cryptocurrency that powers the decentralized payments-focused Litecoin blockchain, has pulled back from the more than one-year highs it hit earlier this week in the $115 area.

If BTC manages to break through the US$31,000 threshold, there is potential for an upward trend; otherwise, support is currently situated at US$29,500,» Edul added.

Bitcoin (BTC) rose 1.17% to $31,021, whereas Ethereum (ETH) was below the $1,950 level. BTC volume in the last 24 hours stood at approximately $16.17 billion, rising 47.24% in the last 24 hours. «The crypto market witnessed a remarkable surge in the past 24 hours, with a total volume of $37.82 billion, marking an impressive 25.34% increase. Notably, the DeFi sector contributed $2.94 billion, accounting for 7.78% of the overall market volume,» Shivam Thakral, CEO of BuyUcoin, said. «Adding to the excitement, Bitcoin surpassed the $31,000 mark, driven by the euphoria surrounding the application for a Bitcoin ETF. This achievement further fuels optimism and interest in the cryptocurrency market,» he added.

The United States equity markets have witnessed a solid year so far. The Nasdaq Composite has soared 31.7%, its best first-half performance since 1983. Similarly, the S&P 500 Index’s (SPX) 15.9% gain is its best first half since 2019. This suggests that risky assets remain in demand.

Venmo said Tuesday it’s begun allowing users to invest in cryptocurrencies with as little as $1, using funds from their Venmo balance or a linked bank account or debit card.

Bitcoin (BTC) has been trading in a narrow range for the past few days but that doesn’t take away the sheen from its stunning 84% rally in 2023. The strong recovery in Bitcoin’s price has boosted buying in several altcoins, which have risen sharply from their yearly lows.

Bitcoin registered a second straight quarterly gain, tightening its grip on crypto markets as smaller tokens nurse losses. The largest digital asset rose 7% in April through June, aided by optimism about increasing demand if BlackRock Inc., Fidelity Investments and others succeed in their efforts to start spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds in the US. In contrast, smaller tokens have been weighed down by the US Securities and Exchange Commission’s growing list of coins viewed as unregistered securities, a designation that can make those assets harder to trade. Bitcoin doesn’t face a similar overhang because American officials view it as a commodity. An index comprising the bottom half of the top 100 tokens by market value dropped 25% this quarter. The divergence between Bitcoin’s performance over the period and the latter gauge was the widest since the last three months of 2020. That’s even with an end-of-quarterly rally in tokens such as Bitcoin Cash and Litecoin.

Bitcoin (BTC) witnessed a volatile trading session on the last day of the quarter. The bulls were trying to maintain Bitcoin’s price above $31,000 but they received a jolt on a Wall Street Journal report which stated that the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) had returned applications for the Bitcoin spot-price exchange-traded fund (ETF).

Bitcoin (BTC) rose 0.02% to $30,405, whereas Ethereum (ETH) was below the $1,900 level. BTC volume stood at approximately $16.68 billion, rising 9% in the last 24 hours. «Most cryptocurrencies traded flat with minimal fluctuations, fueled by the positive sentiment surrounding the possibility of a Bitcoin ETF and encouraging economic indicators from the US Bitcoin, in particular, maintained its position above the US$30,000 threshold for the fifth consecutive day,» Edul Patel, Co-founder, and CEO at Mudrex, said. «The bears seem to be active near the US$31,000 zone. BTC currently faces immediate resistance at the US$30,680 and US$30,950 levels, while the support level rests at US$30,000,» Edul added.

A large part of the recent leg of Bitcoin’s rally started after BlackRock filed to list a spot Bitcoin exchange-traded fund (ETF) on June 15. Several applications by other firms have been rejected by the United States Securities and Exchange Commission in the past. However, BlackRock’s filing has a 50% possibility of getting approved, said Bloomberg senior ETF analyst Eric Balchunas.

The global cryptocurrency market cap was trading lower, around $1.18 trillion, falling 2% in the last 24 hours.

The S&P 500 Index (SPX) snapped a five-week winning streak last week but it is still on track to close the first half of the year with stellar gains of nearly 13%. The tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite has done much better as it is up about 29%. Both these indices have been overtaken by Bitcoin (BTC) which has risen nearly 83% year-to-date.

Hong Kong and India have been in the news recently with respect to their developments in the crypto landscape. While Hong Kong has been announcing several regulatory developments in its crypto ecosystem, India’s G20 presidency is what the crypto community in the country is banking on for a billion dollar market making opportunity. Hong Kong has traditionally been friendly in its approach towards crypto, which attracted many prominent businesses to set up shop in the region. After some initial back and forth on letting retail investors engage with digital assets, it has been made clear that all users can invest and engage in crypto the same way. The region’s welcoming policy for crypto institutions to establish themselves in the region initially was met with skepticism. This was mainly due to speculations of China’s influence and control over the industry from behind the curtains. Reports even suggested that Hong Kong was being used by Beijing as a sandbox, which itself had imposed a blanket ban on digital assets. This was a cause for concern among many stakeholders. However, these concerns were superseded by the pros that the country offered. For one, the country offers a set of comprehensive regulations among the increasing regulatory uncertainty in the US, the largest crypto market. In the recent collapse of banks in the US such as Silvergate and Signature, Hong Kong promptly stepped in to solve the fiat on ramp and liquidity challenges for crypto companies by offering partnerships with banks in its region.

BTC volume stood at approximately $18.92 billion, falling 40% in the last 24 hours. «Markets have slipped after a three-day rally. The crypto fear and greed index has registered no movement and continues to remain at a score of 65/100,» Parth Chaturvedi, Investments Lead at CoinSwitch Ventures, said. «BTC, down 1.3%, continues to trade around $30k. BTC’s price is beginning to stall after the BTC ETF excitement within the market. Though we can expect the BTC price to hold firmly around the current levels with support at $29.7k,» Parth added.

Bitcoin, the leading cryptocurrency, faces an intriguing future as major players from the traditional finance sector, including Citadel, Fidelity, and Charles Schwab, officially enter the crypto space. 

The rush to apply for a spot Bitcoin (BTC) exchange-traded fund (ETF) rejuvenated the bulls but this news is likely to boost the price only to a certain distance. As the price moves up, the risks of a crash increase if none of the ETF applications are approved. Trading firm QCP Capital is not convinced that a spot ETF will see the light of the day in the near term.

BlackRock, the world's biggest asset manager, filed for the exchange last week which would allow investors to get stakes in the asset class. Bitcoin (BTC) surged 5% to $30,326, whereas Ethereum (ETH) was above the $1,900 level. BTC volume stood at approximately $31.48 billion, rising 25% in the last 24 hours. «Bitcoin hovered above the US$30,000 level gaining 5% over the previous day as investors continued to cherish the news of multiple spot Bitcoin ETF filings,» Edul Patel, Co-Founder & CEO of Mudrex said.
