The Karnataka government’s move comes at a time when Lok Sabha elections are a few months away, with the ruling Left Democratic Front in Kerala being a part of the Congress’ INDIA alliance for the Parliament polls, but a rival at the regional level. In a letter to Gandhi, Karnataka forest minister Eshwar Khandre said that his department plans to host a meeting with forest departments of Kerala and TamilNadu to come up with an action plan for avoiding man-animal conflicts. Karnataka, the minister wrote, had the highest number of elephants in India at 6,395. “Due to several reasons, forest cover is decreasing and the number of elephants coming into the human habitat is increasing,” he added.

Shivam Raghav (age 21) is a NEET candidate from the Aligarh region of Uttar Pradesh. He has spent the previous three years studying in Kota for the entrance exam and is residing in a dormitory room in Landmark City, which is under the Kunhari police station. The kid was sent to MBS Hospital on Friday as his condition worsened, according to Sub Inspector Rajaram of Kunhari police station. The boy had high blood pressure and sugar levels for the previous six months. He stated that Raghav's condition worsened while he was still in the hospital, forcing an ICU transfer, where he passed away early on Sunday morning. After the post-mortem, the police gave his family members, who had traveled to Kota following his hospitalization, the body.
