Japanese firms love to invest in India. Here’s why
India remains the top choice for Japanese manufacturing firms looking to invest abroad, Itagaki Shinichi of the state-owned Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) said in an interview. Itagaki, who directs JBIC’s strategic and geopolitical research, said political pressures and negative images had made China less attractive for Japanese firms, benefiting India. Itagaki said the proportion of Japanese companies with business plans in India has jumped from around 35% in 2021 to 45.8 in 2023, according to a JBIC survey of Japanese manufacturing enterprises conducted in 2023.

17-year-old student suspected of planning jihadist attack on school detained in Spain
Madrid: Spain's high court on Tuesday ordered that a 17-year-old student suspected of having links to the militant Islamic State group and of planning to attack his high school be held on remand at a youth detention centre for at least six months. The student, a Syrian national, was arrested early on Monday in the southern town of Montellano near Seville, and has been charged with belonging to a terrorist organisation and possessing explosives. Jose Luis de Castro, the judge in charge of the court's section for minors, said in his order that "these felonies of enormous gravity" justified the pre-trial detention.

India has to work on the levers around capital absorption and capital flow incentivisation: Gokul Chaudhri
Gokul Chaudhri, Tax Leader,Deloitte India, says “the energy transition is going to be involving, let us say, the rollout of green bonds and green financing and so forth. And that will also bring in its own tax levers, because there will have to be an incentivisation around the entire green space as to how to enable the energy transitions to happen, including the PLI for a number of products that go into the green economy, plus also the incentivise around the green bonds. So there are a fair number of levers that India today has to enable that capital absorption as well as capital flow incentivisation.”
