Daylight Saving Time returns: Will the US ever end the clock-change debate?
daylight saving time (DST) begins. At 2 a.m. local time on Sunday, March 9, clocks will move forward by an hour, bringing longer daylight hours in the evening but also disrupting sleep schedules. The shift will remain in place until Sunday, November 2, when clocks return to standard time for the winter months. While most states observe DST, some do not. Hawaii and most of Arizona opt out, citing climate and practical concerns. The Navajo Nation, however, does follow the change. U.S. territories, including Puerto Rico and Guam, also skip the adjustment.

Are you more likely to be diagnosed with cancer if you are plus-sized? Answer is not so simple, reveals new study
A research collaboration among experts from the University of Reading, University College London, and Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine examined cancer prevalence across 263 different species spanning mammals, birds, reptiles, and amphibians. Their results challenge Peto’s paradox—a hypothesis first introduced in 1977, which proposed that an organism’s size had no significant influence on its likelihood of developing cancer. Published on February 24 in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS), the study demonstrated a clear pattern: larger species generally show greater rates of tumour occurrence. However, species that evolved to grow rapidly to substantial sizes, such as elephants, simultaneously developed powerful biological mechanisms to counteract cancer.

RBI's microfinance move: Tightening the reins while easing the credit squeeze
microfinance lending should be seen as an assertion of its confidence that earlier curbs are delivering results. The stress showing up in this segment — NPAs in the sector have surged to an all-time high of ₹50,000 cr, according to data from Crif High Mark — is the outcome of credit contraction that would, left to itself, have tamed delinquency. Lenders pulled back after RBI last year capped credit and interest rates to overleveraged borrowers. Evergreening of loans has been curtailed, with the new rules setting limits on the number of loans to individual borrowers and prohibit fresh lending to any debtor in default. But this is strong medicine, administered to check the spike in unsecured credit resulting from a previous round of relaxation of microfinance lending rules.
