A new company policy has sparked controversy by imposing rigid restrictions on employee restroom use. Under the new guidelines, workers are permitted to use the restroom only during designated time slots: before 8 a.m., between 10:30 and 10:40 a.m., from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., between 3:30 and 3:40 p.m., and from 5:30 to 6:00 p.m.
Employees working overtime may access the facilities only after 9 p.m. Outside these scheduled intervals, restroom use is strictly limited to emergencies, and even then, employees must keep their visits under two minutes, according to a report by the South China Morning Post.
The company has justified these restrictions by citing Huang Di Nei Jing, or the Yellow Emperor’s Inner Canon, a classical text on traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) that dates back over 2,000 years. Considered one of the most influential medical writings in Chinese history, the text serves as the foundation for many TCM principles.
