Apollo Hospitals, Hyderabad, took a unique approach—he shared his ‘tax-free earnings’ for the year 2024-25. Unlike financial figures, his earnings were measured in kilometers and hours of fitness activities, leaving many inspired. Taking to social media, Dr. Sudhir Kumar revealed the statistics of his physical fitness journey. He shared that he ran a total of 1,548 kilometers and walked 1,166 kilometers over the year. Additionally, he dedicated 60 hours and 19 minutes to strength training. Breaking it down further, he maintained an impressive daily average of 7.4 kilometers of running and walking combined, while his strength training averaged 5 hours per month. Reflecting on his progress, Dr. Kumar noted that while he was satisfied with his overall fitness achievements, he aimed to improve his strength training routine in the new financial year.

Singapore is seeing a new COVID-19 wave as the authorities recorded more than 25,900 cases from May 5 to 11 even as Health Minister Ong Ye Kung on Saturday advised the wearing of masks again. «We are at the beginning part of the wave where it is steadily rising,» said Ong. «So, I would say the wave should peak in the next two to four weeks, which means between mid- and end of June,» The Straits Times newspaper quoted the minister as saying. The Ministry of Health (MOH) said the estimated number of COVID-19 cases in the week of May 5 to 11 rose to 25,900 cases, compared with 13,700 cases in the previous week.

yen sagged to fresh lows on the euro, sterling and other crosses this week and headed for a fourth weekly drop on the dollar as investors chased better yields just about everywhere but Japan, wagering rates there would stay near zero for some time. The yen is the worst-performing G10 currency this year, with a 6.4% slide on the dollar. The greenback is the best performing.

Singapore jumped to 965 in the past week, up from 763 the previous week. The number of patients admitted to intensive care units (ICU) went up from 23 to 32 in the same period. These are the highest numbers of new weekly hospitalisation and ICU admission for COVID-19 patients in 2023, TODAY newspaper reported on Thursday.

The seven-day moving average of the infection was 7,870 on December 12 and decreased slightly to 7,730 on December 17, The Straits Times newspaper reported.
