NEW DELHI : Nestlé India Ltd’s noodle brand Maggi is making a big comeback at the ₹10 price point, as the packaged consumer goods company aims to stave off competition and claw back market share in smaller towns and villages with an attractive price point. The local unit of the Swiss company, which used to sell Maggi in 100g packs for ₹10, raised the price to ₹12 in December 2014 and further to ₹14 in February last year to account for rising raw material costs. The new ₹10 pack, introduced in so-called Rurban markets (rural markets and small towns) across 15 states, weighs 40gm.

MUMBAI : The BSE Sensex is poised to log its longest winning streak as retail investors continue to plough money into the markets. The 30-share index has now risen for 11 days in a row this month, matching the longest winning streak since 7 October 2007 when it rose for an identical number of days. Such long winning streaks have happened only four times: June 1983, October 2003, October 2007 and September this year.

Carrefour is set to attach labels to products sold in its stores warning shoppers of what it deems to be “shrinkflation", the latest volley against the major food producers accused of trying to profit from inflation. From Monday next week, all products that Carrefour claims to be practicing shrinkflation—when a product has become smaller but the price charged by the supplier has risen without changes to the recipe or packaging—will be labeled as such, the French supermarket chain said Friday. The bright orange label, measuring about five square inches, also informs consumers that Carrefour is committed to re-negotiating the price of the product in question.
